Miami Dolphins No Closer To A Coach But Details To Coming Philosophy Become Clearer

Agree, but what do you think happens if Murray or Lock is there for the taking at #13?
I think Murray will be gone unless he has strong inclination to play baseball. If he does, then I wouldn't draft him. But if he is going to play football, he's not available at 13. I like the guy and think he'll be a success in the NFL.

Lock is a solid but unspectacular QB, whom I don't think we should take at 13. This draft is full of those types, and I'd put Haskins and Grier in there too. Grier has the age thing working against him … typically older prospects look better than they really are in college, which skews the analysis. Haskins isn't dynamic like Murray nor is he a great passer to be the great pocket passing QB he needs to be. All in all, this just isn't the draft for a QB. The 2020 has Fromm, who is extremely accurate, has good vision, and a quick release. He's my top pick. Then there's Tua, who is solid in all phases but not electric running the ball and tends to be a hair off on about half his throws, which doesn't hurt you at Alabama with those receivers, but will prove problematic in the pros. Justin Herbert made the right decision going back to college, because he has real accuracy issues. When his footwork is right, he can be precise, and he has all the physical things you look for, tall, very strong arm, and when he gets his stuff right he is precise. Those three will be high picks. There are some other good prospects in 2020, depending upon how they develop.

The best of the bunch may be true freshman at Clemson, but he's not eligible yet. He sure doesn't look like a freshman. He has the talent that reminds me of Peyton Manning and the demeanor that reminds me of Tom Landry/Eli Manning.

The problem is when you dump vets for low draft capitol return it doesn’t get you anywhere in terms of leverage to move up for your qb. Day 3 pick returns aren’t gonna do it.

We are gonna need to trade high value assets on rookie contracts to get real draft capitol return.

If I got to move up for a qb if and when I do those day 3 pick returns are nothing but throw ins in trade.

Unless I’m just gonna give away my next 2 first rounders too in the process. For qbs people are gonna hold you to the fire in trade
True. This makes Xavien Howard your most valued asset. You will never part with a top tier LT because it's difficult to replace. Top corners are needed but if you keep drafting them you play the odds. The rest of our draft picks are irrelevant (Except the DTs) be cause of their performance. Drake could net you a 4th rounder if you sucker in some dumb team.

I don't care what happens with the veterans to be honest. They just need to go

The way to tank is by trading away all vets that are 30 or above for picks. Don't expect high picks in return for most of them but that way you get rid of some horrible contracts like Jones, Branch,Tanny and Kiko if you can find takers.
Forget about Gore, Wake,Hayes or Sitton coming back.....what would be the point? They'd only be taking snaps away from the younger guys.
You have to see what you can get for guys like Stills too.
The big question is, do you trade Howard? One of our best players but he'd also bring the most in return. Of course you'd be looking for two Corners instead of one.

All the others should be easy decisions tho if you really want to build from the bottom up.

If they are going after a QB in 2020 that likely means we will be without a first round pick in 2021. I've been reading a lot of information about the Dolphins plan but I guess it's possible that the agents from some of the HC candidates that did not get the job are talking and relaying information obtained in those interviews.

Look at what the Eagles did to jump from 13 to 8 to 2. We all know about the jump from 13 but this is what they gave to the Browns for #2...

The No. 8 pick in 2016, the No. 77 pick (third round) in 2016, the No. 100 pick (fourth round) in 2016, a 2017 first-rounder and a 2018 second-rounder.

We will likely be doing something similar, depending on what the plan is at QB this year and where we finish. I'm guessing it's a stop-gap (Tyrod Taylor) with Tannehill sent packing. We don't have an abundance of picks this year to replenish everything and then giving up picks next year will be tough to fill out this roster to help out a 2020 rookie. Even in his second year with no 1st and possibly a second, it is going to be tough.

The way the draft is working out DL is the way to go this year. We can land a top player at 13 but we likely need to trade down to acquire more picks. Hopefully someone wants to go to 13 for a QB and we can net a 2nd rounder.

I like the hire of the new assistant GM (who would have ties to Tyrod). Hearing good things about this guy Marvin Allen.

I see a huge roster purge when the league year opens with some surprise cuts as well.

I think a top five pick is definitely in the realm of possibility. Number one wouldnt surprise me as long as they cut thill and don't half ass this thing with a Flacco or Foles signing.

The only first contract that may bring high value pick is X and I doubt they trade him. This team wont need additional high round assests to get a top pick because they’re not going to win many games next year.

This is exactly what direction I was hoping they'd take. Not having a big QB contract for the next 5 years also allows the Fins to resign Tunsil and X which given their talent level at important positions should be retained.

Get ready for Brock and Fales next year.

I like Foles if done right. 3 years for 30-40mil would be great. Have him around to help groom the future QB for 2 years. He will probably go for more than that on the market though.

This would be the perfect year to switch to throwbacks full time.... if you wanna but patience from the fans

If you can get a mid first for Howard, maybe. CBs tend not to age well.

Two words stand out to me in that whole article. Dead weight.

Any remaking of this organization must involve culling the dead weight from multiple departments. It’s the dead weight that has spanned multiple regimes and continued to propagate a culture of laziness and sloppy work, be it coaching, training, personnel, etc. Perhaps it’s the Miami lifestyle that contributes to this, but the more turnover there is within the organization the healthier it will be in the long run. Got to clean out the wound, remove the dead and infected tissue, and leave it open for a while.
