Tannehill To Bengals A Possibility

Giving away a starting QB for nothing isn’t thinking objectively. This forum has lost all rationality when it comes to him. Everyone is frustrated and thinks he’s worth nothing when that’s not true.
In the post you quoted, he didn't say that. Maybe he said it further up, I didn't see that though . I'll search now.

Ah. I see he said he doesn't think anyone will trade for him with the contract he has. I don't agree with that statement, but stranger things have happened I guess.

Yeah then at $13 mil I absolutely think a trades in play here.
Or we just keep him and draft a QB. Honestly if we go out and get Flacco or Brisgewater or Foles etc, what are we going to pay? 20 Mill? Remember we have to count the bonus against the cap anyway. So if we keep RT we have a 26M hit for a starting QB, if we cut or trade him we have 13M plus whatever we pay another QB, lets say we get one of those guys for 20M, then add RT dead cap of 16M, we now allocate 36M toward QB for a team trying to rebuild? That’s just stupid. We could just keep RT, Draft someone and roll that 10M we save by keeping him into next years cap. That’ll help us about 20M over the next two seasons while a young QB or two developes and we have a quality Backup in RT. If we are a rebuild we do that instead of sign a high priced FA or we cut him and just roll with young guys and roll 13M the next two years. Either way we can’t go grab a Starting Calibur QB if we are going to rebuild as it is a cap miller, spending more to achieve limited results isn’t the answer.

His base salary in 2019 is 18.725 million and 2020 19.5 million that is in addition to the ~13 million in signing bonus that we owe him.
I’m sure you’re right, I didn’t look it up, I just went from memory. Either cut him and roll with low prices young guys or keep him as a backup but in no circumstance should we go after a starter and pay them 20M + for a rebuild, it would be cheaper to keep her.

Honestly, if we draft a rookie great start him but don’t force it. That’s how you get Christian Ponder. If we don’t get a rookie and Tannehill takes a pay cut he’s probably a better option than paying Teddy, Flacco or Foles. If we’re actually trying to lose, which I find hard to believe, just roll with any other guy we have not names Brock. Believe it or not Os would probably be too good to get a top 5 pick. He’s probably a ticket to 6-10 - 8-8.

The caveat of course is unless you believe Teddy, Flacco or Foles are the future. I do not, I eventually want a rookie starting QB in 20 or 21. I don’t want to build a team around Teddy, Flacco or even Foles. I honestly don’t think we’re even in on the Foles market.

The solution for the fans on the message board is always “Player X should take a pay cut” or
“We should sign Player X to a team-friendly (i.e. cheap) contract.”

Funny how the players don’t often agree with that particular notion.

Oh I agree with you 100%, Ryan certainly doesn’t have to take a pay cut. I’m just saying we know Foles and Flacco are going to be expensive, probably too expensive unless they believe it’s the guy to build the team around. If Teddy and Ryan are around the same price I keep Ryan as my stop gap. The bottom line is I only see the 2019 QB as a stop gap but think it should be a viable option. If we draft somebody I’m on board with rolling with the rookie.

With Ryan’s 2018 performance he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him starting somewhere in 19 but not at 26 million. I wouldn’t fault him at all for trying though.

If we cut him we are not getting nothing. We are saving ourselves a bucket load of money and removing one of the main reasons why we've been stuck in this never ending nothingness state for the last 7 years. We need shot of this guy one way or the other and no team will pick up that contract based his losing record, zero play off appearances and general health. Hell they only have to put the tape on for the last 3 or 4 games to see what we have here is not a starting NFL QB. His value is that of a back up, and you don't pay $17million or whatever is for that.

If anything this forum has been way too tolerable of the man, the rational thing to do was get off the Tannehill train years ago but there are folks on here that still think he's not been giving a chance and still has the talent to take us places.

WTF happened to FinFanBuffalo???

:)

I asked him when he was posting regular, obviously when we were winning games, if he would still post if Tannehill suddenly was with the team no more and he told me he was an old fan of the team and he wasn't bound to number 17. I think that may not of been the total truth, I've often suspected he has some connection there, his defence of the guy was at times totally bewildering.

Totally agree! In fact there were more than one IMO who literally acted as if they had genetic material in the game!

Something perhaps to be aware of in the future...

Thanks for the info.

Dolphin fans are so used to incompetence that they actually think its the norm now.

If we do anything with Tannehill that does not get us back a second day pick, we got taken to the woodshed again.

That applies to the haters as well. The level of hate many on this site displayed toward him was unsettling.
