Dolphins Facing Interesting Decisions On Two Veteran Receivers. The Potential Fallout

Parker will cost you 9 mill. In what world can that happen?
Then again the same organization that extended Kiko Alonso, Byron Maxwell, Andre Branch, TJ McDonald.
Truth is another bust pick. If you’re not good enough for a 5th year option either you’re a headache, injury prone or just suck. Parker is all 3.
Parker is not going to cost us 9 Mill. His last contract year it is all non guaranteed. He either renegotiates to a lower number or he is gone.

Even if he is willing to come back cheap do we even want him? He’s been such a non factor through 2 regimes now. He might just be a bad player.

But he had the same QB. We had to many receivers who simply became lackluster and lacked suddenly the effort for it to be coincidental.
If I am the Dolphins I'd offer him a similar deal like he had. Just out of curiosity, maybe a little shorter. If he gets a better deal somewhere else let him walk, get a low pick and call it a day. I certainly would not just cut him unless it is absolutely necessary.

I think that's an interesting point about 1st round bust at wr. does seem to be an awful lot of them. almost better just to avoid it all together until later on.

Parker is a bust, that is very clear at this point. In addition, he is a injury risk week-to-week.

I'd keep Amendola, not sure what everyone else was watching but he brought it every game IMO

I think a lot of fans seriously overrate Stills. He is a nice deep threat, at times, but disappears, and seems less relevant in games than a guy like Tedd Ginn even is. I won't soon forget his drop at Seattle, nor his decision to take a dive 1 yard shy of a first down this year in a critical situation. I get it that you need the "chunk yards" guys, but he just disappears and doesn't do it frequently enough. I don't think he gets separation like you need out of a starter. This team is absolutely STACKED with #3/#4 receivers. Wilson may be the only one who could possibly be rated as a #2, but that will still take time to determine. Very sad that WR became a position of need, based on what it looke like 1-2 yrs ago.

he is absolutely terrible, a stiff player like parker. they run down the field
and turn around and thats it. amendola at least works to get open.

parker and stills have to go. wilson one more year.

colts said they were in a rebuild. then they won like their last 9.

it don't mean squat.

they top pick draft a qb the clock starts regardless of what they say

Drafting a Pro Bowl caliber LG changes things.. doesn't it? :)

They might be onto something with drafting good lineman. It's speculation at this point. :)

I personally think the biggest indication of how this roster will shape out is the handling of X.

Honestly, if I'm a new HC, I would gut the roster as quick as possible and get my own picks in the building as quick as possible. People laugh at Gruden, but what he has done is an education in roster reshaping. Will it work? Who knows. But you cannot argue with the draft resources he has at his disposal to empower himself to pick his guys. What he does with it is another discussion in entirety. But the positioning he has done for himself is impressive.

Here's the rub with X: Flores is a new HC. X is not his guy. BUT Flores is Grier's guy. Grier drafted X.

If they sign X long term, that is a huge win for other Grier draftees. Especially LT.

But if they don't, this could be a 2 or 3 year gut job.

If you're going to try to develop a qb this year or next you need some smart/veteran Wrs for him to throw to. Stop with the Owusu and Ford nonsense...they are practice squad players.
I see what youre saying about the practice squad, but Gase is the one who put them there.
Owusu led the team in either catches or yards during the preseason, and for some reason couldn't crack the 53 man roster when he would have been an immediate upgrade over Parker.
