Dolphins Send Dan Marino To Look At Senior Bowl

You guys are looking at this from a credibility and ability view point.

What has Ross wanted with Dan from Day 1? Him in a leadership role.

If Ross is anything, it is persistent. He has a plan and vision for Dan with the Dolphins.

Dan has been the reluctant girl in this relationship for some time. But he has continued to listen to Ross. So, he has, in a sense, never said "no". So, Ross continues to slowly immerse Dan into the organization.

Maybe some day, 5 to 10 years from now, Dan will eventually find that harmony and confidence in life where he is ready. So, why push him away?

Ross has been very smart to continue pursuing Dan. This team NEEDS Dan.

Shula is 89 years old. How much longer will he be around?

As a collective whole, the '72 Dolphins don't have much to do with the team. Dan is our "legend" that is involved in the team. He connects the past to the present. We need that bridge.

And if Dan is to ever lead this organization, don't you want him to be comfortable AND knowledgeable of his role and duties?

Think of this as a long term Management Trainee position.

Will the people on this bulletin board never learn. Michael Jordan was arguably the greatest player in the history of basketball. He has been a complete failure as a team executive and an owner. Larry Bird never brought a championship to the Pacers. I could cite numerous other examples of franchise players in multiple sports who failed as coaches and executives.

There is NO CORRELATION between being a great athlete and being a successful owner or executive. NONE. ABSOLUTELY NONE.

I'm a huge Marino fan, as my avatar suggests. Nobody is claiming that Dan Marino is an elite talent scout, or even someone with a proven track record of spotting QB talent. But having Dan Marino involved in that evaluation process makes me feel more confident of our process. The things I value in a QB are what Dan Marino embodies, desire to win, unbreakable confidence, fiery inspirational leadership, commitment to excellence, unyieldingly high expectations of his teammates, unwavering respect, and an unshakeable belief that WE are the best and WE are going to win. It's contagious, and we haven't had that in a long time. Yes, he also had unbelievable physical tools, and he expects those tools, including the most important ones, accuracy, vision, and read & react ability.
Having been one of the best ever I’m sure he knows the exact tools to look for when he sees a QB. It has to be easy for him to look for the tools, all he has to do is match the QBs tools to his own

Lock or Stick are the only 2 QBs in this draft who I think even remotely fill the bill of "Marino-like-ness".

But that's not how it works otherwise every team would employ HOF QB's to scout the next great QB for them.
