Qb Busts.

Ryan Leaf is probably the biggest bust I've seen in my lifetime. Just goes to show why you shouldn't give a kid from Great Falls money...

Jamarcus Russell was bad, but he was overhyped based on that Sugar Bowel beatdown of the Domers the bowl season before the draft....Akili Smith was bad too, so was Joey Harrington.

For the Fins...John Beck has to absolutely be it. He was drafted and people took his film of 25 year olds beating on 18 year olds to heart and thought he'd be the next coming. When he ended up sucking moose phallus, the excuse train got higher and higher, more and more loud. Not only was he struggling, but people were proclaiming him the second coming of Roger Staubach, John Elway, and any other amazing QB that had a rocky start to a career...the only difference was, he was really bad, and just never had "it". I've never seen a more overhyped Dolphins prospect in my life.

Henne...you could argue was a bit of a bust, but he had his moments here, like the Jets game at home his rookie season, and his game at home against the Pats that year. For whatever reason, he just stopped developing, though he has had a decent career as a backup in the league.

Pat White..you couldn't consider a bust, because he was more of a "WTF" type pick than anything else. Basically, we overdrafted him to run a formation...which was idiotic on our part...but just one of the many idiotic moves this franchise has made in the last 25 years.

Tannehill...you couldn't consider a bust...like Henne, he's had his moments, but just has hit a wall, or a ceiling, or whatever you want to call it.

So yeah...Beck was the WOAT Fins QB as far as I'm concerned, based on his draft position and his hype.

Hi apologies if in the wrong section and mods feel free to move.

Saw an older article today listing the top 50 QB busts. Some names on there I had forgot like JP Losman amongst others. The popular opinion still seems to have Ryan Leaf as the biggest bust at QB of all time?

What are your thoughts on this? Which QB's shocked you they didn't fulfil their promise?

Is Beck one of the worst pick ups for the Fins? Who do you think might end up being a bust at QB from the upcoming draft?

RT went round 1 ahead of Russell Wilson who is elite. All this tanking talk but you can never be sure the RD 1 guy is THE guy. Hopefully the assistant GM who's got a good scouting record can help us secure a genuine franchise QB.

I liked the assistant GM hire, but it is a little concerning that he scouted and took Josh Allen as their future franchise QB.

Josh Allen is a freak of a qb in terms of tools and potential. It’s now up to the coaching staff up there to get it out of him.

Yah but being athletic is not the most important thing when it comes to being a QB, not even close. He was never accurate in college. He actually played better than I thought he would, but I still don't see "elite" QB in him.

.
Any QB that is “just good enough” to keep you hoping, and “just good enough” to keep you from moving on, while ****ting the bed when it counts, is the WORST kind of QB bust you could possibly have.

That set us back 7 years and will leave us with dead cap.

You know... chanting it won't make it real.:chuckle:

It's been one season. Way too early to throw out the bust label. Everyone in the world knew he was raw. The Bills have been desperately thirsty for a QB forever. Hard to fault them for taking Allen, the way I see it. The final decision probably wasn't even Marvin Allen's anyway.

Yah we never know who makes the final call and who pulled for what in the war room. The same reason we don't know whether to blame Grier or not for our crappy drafting the last 2 decades. For all we know Allen may not have believed in him but they went that route anyway, and he didnt like the future of the Bills. But I still like the Allen pickup regardless as some new blood in the GM room.

John Beck is why you never take a QB who doesn't consistently fit the ball into tight windows.

u still got draft. u cannot be scare draft, if it don't wk move on. that dolphins problems. we have had a lot of bust GM as well.

yes they draft him but he only last one yr, not like thill17 where it was a must that it work out but it didn't, 7 yr later bust.

I'd say 95% of QBs need to be well surrounded to play well. The way the draft is set up and the price of QBs, most QBs get overdrafted by bad teams. Of course most of them bust...
VERY true and a good observation that I had never really thought of that way,
