Which brings me to the Miami Dolphins...

By now you know the Dolphins’ stated approach to 2019. Owner Stephen Ross announced a “new approach,” and in doing so talked about how he had to fire Adam Gase because, in part, the coach wanted to “win now.”

And Ross talked about doing things “the right way,” which he said could include a 3-13 record.

And then new coach Brian Flores, who got a five-year contract when other coaches this cycle mostly got four-year deals, made the point “there will be some pain” during his introductory press conference.

So the Dolphins just might be getting ready to experience something similar to what the Raiders lived through last season.

im fine with it, this team isnt going anywhere anyways so mine as well rip it apart like they've ripped apart my heart all these years!

Thanks for posting brother. It’s going to get uglier before we get back on the right track. We need to do this all the way right, rather than half way.
I know some will say we didn’t do that with the front office, so why the players? We need to do a reset on the cap and set ourselves up for good health in the future. Also this is the time to get younger and get out of some of these contracts. I know there will be dead money cap hits, but need to have a plan to do this now and have a path forward.

We all knew this was going to be painful, I happen to agree with him.

To be fair it's been painful for 20 years around here. The worst part has been all those seasons in the middle of the pack. Not good enough but also not bad enough and of course all the bad contracts and the bad drafting over the years. I'm hoping things will change for the better of course but saying it and actually making it happen are two different things. It all starts with drafting well. I don't expect to hit on every pick but drafting guys like Harris with your first pick has to stop before we can get better.

Amazing how many posters were staunchly against the idea of tanking, but now that the Dolphins seem to be commited to it, most posters are on board. Good stuff.

I’m not on board with it. It’s a horrible feeling knowing Miami is going to aim to be bad in the next year or two. You’re supposed to be excited when the new league year starts bc your team has hope. It’s going to be a LONG time before I get excited about this team and that kills me bc I love football. At least when Miami was average there was still the chance they could make a little noise. Even that is gone now.

I hear you bro. You can still look forward to the new draft picks and how they develop.

I will take the hit. It's not like the team have declined dramatically. They have been average at best for too long. A different approach is long overdue and one that I'm on-board with.

This is pretty much what I expect to happen And I think it won’t be anymore painful than staying the course.
