Would You Be Upset If We Go Cb 1st Round?

Looking for another safety because Fitz “can” play CB is absurd

not my preference but I'm tired of all the trade X talk, just cause were rebuilding docent mean you get rid of all of your talent, you got to pay somebody. Id rather have D line if no Murray

You can pay x and carry a rookie qb on a 5 year bargain contract any day.

I’m not sure why miami would play hard ball here. Unless they schematically don’t value a true #1 corner which counters the pats adding as a free agent stephon Gilmore a few years ago to top shelf money.

Just pay x

No! It's called leverage and good business sense. If I'm a team's GM then i'm interested in "every player" in the draft including Kyler Murray.
That Cardinals team needs lots of help at practically every position. Guess what? That's going to require lots of draft picks.
Thus, I'm willing to dangle the Kyler Murray, #1 overall draft spot, to all interested parties.

Josh Rosen got destroyed behind that Cardinals OL last season.
How much better is a prospect like Murray going to do? 2-4 games better? Maybe?

So why not get as much as I can for that pick and then use them to sensibly build my team?

That may be how it works for other positions but it’s not how it works for the QB position, especially when you’ve already got a young incumbent like Josh Rosen. There are realities of the QB position that don’t work in fantasy. Reality is if you’re taking Murray you need to organize a trade for Rosen. And if you do that, that’s Pandora’s box you’re opening.

You can’t just be all cavalier about it, like ok Miami offered up what I want, so I will just pull that trigger and now I keep Rosen, becUse he will find out about it. Just as Jay Cutler found out Josh McDaniels tried to acquire Matt Cassel and that resulted in Cutler demanding a trade.

Reality forces you to sort of make your decision. And thus if Arizona calls Miami saying they’re taking Murray unless we offer them this price tag, you call the bluff.

Different if they say they’ve got this offer from the Bengals and you need to match it.

I would trade to number 2 with the raiders and force the giants hand. The would have to pay the cards to go get Haskins.

I see it as a big need so I wouldn't be upset. Pass rush would be
Not at all, it's a passing league so potentially having one of the best secondaries in the NFL is a good thing. Try to build a decent DL and you probably have a top 5 top 10 defense as long as the LB's aren't garbage.
Plus it improves the pass rush if you have a corner who can cover longer.

If a CB is our top rated player when you're on the clock at 13, of course you take him.

BPA meet desperate need.

Why reach for a lesser player at a different position when CB is such a dire need for us?

Personally I'd prefer DT (with inside pass rush ability) or pass rushing DE or OLB, but if CB is the best player on the board, pull the trigger.

It's crazy that a few weeks ago we were debating if Murray would be worth spending the #13 pick and now we are debating how much we have to give up to go get him. so unconventional at his position. I still think he is a high risk high reward prospect and it would be a huge risk to sell the farm for a guy

I wouldn't be upset if drafted a CB at 13 as long as he doesn't suck and is actually a player worth keeping around past his rookie contract and that goes for any position we draft at 13. We need playmakers and difference makers.

{ I still think he is a high risk high reward prospect and it would be a huge risk to sell the farm for a guy}.

all draft pick are high risk players in first because of money he will be getting.. he will not be only bust in 1st rd. if that happen. lot of them 1st rd guy are going be bust.

The whole build the trenches thing is weird to me.

Clearly Miami needs some help on the interior of the line, even if they keep Ja'Wuan James.

But if you think the NE defense is built on the backs of their "front seven" then you're sorely mistaken. That defense is all about the secondary. They throw talented player after talented player out there, be it Stephon Gilmore, Pat Chung, Devin McCourty, JC Jackson, Jason McCourty, Duron Harmon, Jonathan Jones, Eric Rowe. They are 8-deep back there where Miami are 4-deep, and that's if the Dolphins hang onto Reshad Jones despite his boycotting a game last year because he got all pissypants.

They rely on those safeties and corners to be fast, physical, and effective in man coverage.

Aside from Dont'a Hightower and Malcom Brown (who is a borderline 1st round bust and doesn't play much), all of the players along the defensive front are from humble beginnings. Trey Flowers was a 4th round pick. Lawrence Guy (who I really wanted as a free agent) was a $3-4 million a year low-level FA acquisition. They traded a 5th round pick for Danny Shelton. They traded a 6th round pick for Kyle Van Noy.

Yet on the back end, Stephon Gilmore was a somewhat rare marquee level FA acquisition for the Patriots, Devin McCourty is a former 1st round pick of theirs that they pay very well, Pat Chung is a #34 overall home grown of theirs that has been with the team for a decade, they burned a 2nd round pick on Duke Dawson this year though he's spent the year on IR, Duron Harmon is a 3rd round pick of theirs that they've given a $4-5 million per year second contract, and then they've also surrounded those guys with lower-asset acquisitions (in the same vein as Shelton/Van Noy), with guys like Jason McCourty (acquired for 6th and 7th round picks) and Eric Rowe (acquired for a 4th round pick).

They also burned a 2nd rounder on Cyrus Jones in 2016 and a 2nd rounder on Jordan Richards the year before that. Both turned out to be disappointing players, but you can see the priority this is taking in their allocations. Sort of like when they decided to pay Darrelle Revis in 2014.

Ever wonder that the Patriots decided to punt Chandler Jones in his prime rather than pay him, that they punted Jamie Collins in his prime, and that they appear poised to allow Trey Flowers to walk?

They give big contracts to Dont'a Hightower, Devin McCourty, and Stephon Gilmore...but not those guys. There's a pattern here.

CK is right, Miami is going to adopt the NE system.

Defensive Backs are what you need to flourish. I don't expect Greedy to be there at 13 so that's why he's never talked about by me, but if he is he's absolutely in play to be the pick.

Question? Why is it that both Greedy William's and Byron Murphy seem to be dropping in the eyes of some of the online draft analysts? I'm not sure what they are seeing to warrant both players dropping in the 1st round?

Are they dropping? Were they ever up there to begin with?

They're both attractive players but it's not as if they don't have flaws. Greedy Williams is one of those total liability against the run types, and Byron Murphy is small.
