Not sure if he fits into what Miami is doing, but isn't there a minimum amount of the cap you have to spend.

According to Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com, the Dolphins are currently the front runner for the 25-year old pass rusher.

The word in Indianapolis is that the Miami Dolphins are the front runners for top-rated pass rusher Trey Flowers at this point. The former fourth-round pick is generally considered the top available player in this year’s free-agent market.

Whether or not Miami actually signs Flower is to be determined. Many believe he is the best player on the open market, and could command a 5 year, $75-million contract. Which would be a lot of money, for a team not expected to compete until 2021 and beyond.

I like it, this defense needs pass rushers and the kid is young

Cam is on his twilight of his career, it's time to hopefully draft a young stud also.

Don’t we have to spend some money, when we lose some of the wasted salaries like Branch and Quinn to name a few, some cash should be freed up, plus he’s young and knows Flores system

In a rebuild...come on in, the waters fine.

In a "tank" (load up the trenches and start Falk, Rudock)...do not want.

Makes sense. Were definitely 1 player away from winning a championship. If they sign him and dont actually do the "patriot way" I'm going to be disappointed. We need to build threw the draft. And have good depth.

I wouldn’t mind... probably would make the same amount as the rest of the bums combined so might as well put the money to better use

They might as well go all out for flowers , because he is about the only viable player for the Dolphins in free agency this year other than Henry Anderson.

The Jets and Colts are both well over 100 million in cap space and both of them may yet cut under-performing veterans. The Colts could be over 110 million come the beginning of the new league year.

It will be hard to win a bidding war with these teams, especially the Colts. They are very close to becoming an elite team again. I would actually rank them higher than the Patriots if they make some of the moves this off season that I expect. They may have the best OL in the league if they are all healthy next year.

Houston is another team that could cause the Dolphins grief. There are already at nearly 90 mil in cap room and they absolutely extremely desperate for OT's. They need two starters and a swing tackle. They will make it very difficult for the Dolphins to hold on to Ja'wuan James.

Just because this team is tanking in 2019 doesn't mean they don't need to make free agent moves for the future.

Dolphins are going to have a ridiculously low payroll after this year if they don't defer their dead money. This team IS in position to sign players to huge long term deals if they feel it is a player who will help the team in 2020 and going forward.

I would pass. Spend huge on a guy once again and net the Pats a nice 3rd round comp pick. I guess that’s going to happen anyway if someone else lands him. ****ing Patriots.

Well I doubt we land any high profile free agents this offseason. If we do … this braintrust needs its brain examined. We've proven that we overpay and get rid of all of the big free agents we sign before their contracts end, Branden Albert, Mike Wallace, Ndamakong Suh, etc., and we're rebuilding, so investing heavily in a 4+ year deal we're only going to come out of with dead cap space by year 3 just isn't the recipe for rebuilding. Sorry, hard pass on all high-end FA's this offseason. We're not good at doing anything more than "winning the offseason" and this is supposed to represent a complete break from dysfunctional front office behavior.

Salary Cap management is not about gleefully overpaying. The only time when those guys make sense is when they put you over the hump. We're in full-rebuild mode … hell even TANK mode. Now is NOT the time to mortgage the future … it's the time to build for it.

It's like people never learn their lessons. Every. Year. We. Make. This. Mistake.

Let's pump our breaks. The guy only had 7.5 sacks. He may just be a younger William Hayes.
