The Dolphins haven’t told Minkah Fitzpatrick whether he will play safety or cornerback this season.

But they have decided that they would prefer he be a full-time safety long-term, according to a team source. – Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald

well better than drafting him to play only slot, but if slot is his best position and the best receiver on a team operates out of a the slot... then fitz would cover them right?

I'd assume they would keep Bobby in the slot. He is considered a top tier option at that spot in the nfl. last year was a combination of injuries, poor depth, and scheme. Bobby can hold it down. The issue was nobody could man that 2nd corner spot

Agreed, they need to find a decent CB and let Minka play FS where he belongs. I think he played CB more out of the coaches not knowing what to really do with him. When he dropped to us, he was too good to pass up. I don't think they expected to get him and weren't really prepared to deal with where to play him. I think that was more of a way to get him on the field, not wanting to disrupt our current safeties. Poor judgment IMO.
