Thanks bro. Another great read. I believe the value for us at 13 is D-line.

Agreed. But I'm hoping there's a couple of guys that make it there and we can leverage teams wanting to come up against one another. I really want an extra second rounder in this draft - should be able to get two starters at that stage.

I'd be fine with moving down. I imagine to get a 2nd we'd have to move down at least 10 to 12 spots? We could probably move back 4 or 5 spots and get a 3rd round pick which would be great.

We need an extra first rounder next year. I have a lot of faith in Grier, but all I want is a shot at a premier QB.

All we need is one pin, Rodney!

I'd rather trade back and select Lawrence and get a similar deal to what Arizona gave Oakland (1st round-15th, 3rd round-79th, 5th round-152...for the 1st round 10th)

Gary, Omenihu, and Nelson are the obvious fits at DE. Sweat is a little light relative to what NE typically looks for, but his length and physical tools would likely bridge that gap for them.

Here are two athletic profiles worth noting:

6'5 266 lbs
35 1/2" arms, 9 3/4" hands
4.87 40
35" vert, 120" broad
7.07 3-cone, 4.38 shuttle
22 bp reps

6'7 271
34 7/8" arms (83" wingspan), 9 7/8" hands
4.82 40
35 1/2" vert, 118" broad
6.95 33-cone, 4.23 shuttle
18 bp reps

The first is Chandler Jones, and the second is Anthony Nelson.

Thank you Travis! Another spectacular article comes at exactly the right time.

Tiniest of nits … would have been great to see the heights/wingspans as well. I know, only so many stats you can fit in … just sayin'.

This is a fantastic overview of the types of players Flores' defense will need for the rebuild. Some guys you mentioned that I had also viewed as strong prospects for us might be:
CB Kris Boyd - He put in some phenomenal play during his collegiate career, if he were consistent he would be a top CB. Protype athlete for the position, might be available in 3rd round.
S Juan Thornhill - Producer with good athleticism. This is the type of savvy player that thrives in this system. Ratings for him are all over the board from the 2nd to 7th rounds.
DT Dexter Lawrence - Big bodied kid who can fill one of those interior roles well. Might be available in the 2nd.
DE Zach Allen - Good but not elite athlete that simply does it all well. Smart, hard working, productive. The type that works for this defense. Likely trade-back 1st round option.

Thanks for the excellent overview Travis.

Agreed about Nelson, although I don't see him as the same explosive athlete as Jones, despite the test results.

Another point about Sweat, prior to the combine it came out that the Dolphins might not really be interested in him because he has had trouble learning the collegiate system and might not be a good fit for all of the rigor that our defense requires. Don't shoot the messenger … just passing it along. I think Sweat goes before us and pushes another talented guy down. This helps whether we use the selection, trade down, or trade out for a 1st in 2020.

We need good player in first rd. That all I care about. If not qb, dt,de
