If Luke Falk, Jake Rudock, or David Fales is behind center in game 1 on...it's a tank job.

Last unofficial tank job was 2011...guess who was the captain of the ship that year?

Think he might be talking about Jim Caldwell. Who is now the asst HC.
More of a coincidence I think. Manning was tagged prior to the season and his neck injury. Colts were looking to make their 10th straight playoff appearance mostly because of Manning but once he went down Kerry Collins then Curtis Painter led them to the #1 pick. Colts were not an overly talented team but they had a great regular season QB.

They’re rebuilding and viewing the 2019 season as a wash. The closest you’ll hear the organization say they’re tanking is when Ross said they may only win 3-4 games next year but they want to rebuild the right way. It’s a very fine line but as Wanny pointed out the answer is both.

Tank = intentionally suck, intentionally lose, create a poor product to get higher draft picks, be the NFL punching bag :shame:

Rebuild = dump dead weight contracts, dump older players. Rid yourself of players not fitting new direction / scheme. Have new coaches try and get more out of players that should be better.

So I can see where some of you are coming from saying both.

So in other words some think we're going to tank 2019 to get top 2020 QB, then continue the rebuild process.....mmm OK.

Are we going to tank in 2020 season also????

We are tanking - you can soften the grammar to a rebuild but lipstick on a pig is still a pig

And Flores 5 year pact sums it up - he has security during the tank job which will make sense in years 3-5

He got 5 years because he is such a great coach?? Come on read the tea leaves - he knows what he is signing up for

And for heavens sake 25 years of rebuilding and tinkering - got them what??

There is very little to go with so start from scratch and give the GM and coach time to sort it out - of course they are going to deflect the tank talk most smart people would

I think we can agree one of these terms Vegas does not like.

Tanking

Tanking may refer to the following

Re·build
Dictionary result for rebuild
/rēˈbild/
verb

- Build (something) again after it has been damaged or destroyed.

Flores got 5 years because he had bargaining power. It's irrelevant.

Your statement would make sense if we had the same GM / Coaches over 25 years.

Not sure what you're saying. It doesn't compute, not even a little.

I think Ross's remarks which were interpreted as losing now to be better later were set up for total confusion. Ross more than likely meant what Gase was doing with free agent signings spending money wasn't working and didn't work. Tannehills injuries compacted the problem.

The plan b for Tannehill going down was Matt Moore and Jay Cutler and then Brocktober. If Tannehill never went down in 2106 and 2018 Gase may have survived. Gase's plan B's failed.

Ross probably will not go after Trey Flowers even though it's possible. Ross wants this rebuild to be done the right way. He's going to put the pressure on the new staff to do their job and home grow some young guys and rebuild for the long haul.

If we were a QB and an edge rusher away from a playoff team maybe.

where does his bargaining power come from? Just another intellectually dishonest poster

Common sense isn't common.

How many years did Gase get????

Who's resume is better Flores or Gase's?

So after firing Gase he's going to offer Flores 3 years. :nah:

Now who's being intellectually dishonest? ...........and you only get one guess.

I think we should just refer to it as rebuilding - even though they're the same thing - since tanking has such a negative stigma to it. Kinda like leprosy and Hansen's Disease. The latter doesn't sound so bad, right? :)
