Qb Pick Now, Or Qb Pick Next Draft?

Pick one mid to late round (Easton Stick)
Focus this year has to be improving the lines.
Draft another Qb next. Plain and simple.

This is my thought exactly!

That's what I'm talkin bout! He's going to be a super stud! That would be my target, hell, I'd trade this year and next years first rounders to be able to get him. Go into the 2021 draft with 3 first rounders plus and use them to trade up to 1. This kid is already awesome, imagine him with two more years under his belt!

But are you ready for those 3 years?

I'm going out on the limb and saying this forum is not.

Dumpster fires and flipped over cars are going to happen on merely Thu, Apr 25, 2019. I can only imagine 3 years.

"If" Tua puts up another year like he did this year, he will not be better than Luck was, or better than Haskins. We know that, at the draft time, and that's what it's about.
Tua is already better than Haskins. Haskins is playing on an Ohio State team that has at least 10 NFL draft picks right now. It's not like the talent surrounding him is inferior to Tua's. Haskins is a pocket passer--which I like--but he isn't even as good at that aspect as Tua. If Tua were in this draft, nobody would have Haskins ranked above him. Kyler Murray is something different altogether, but stylistically, bringing out the best in Murray requires building an offense around him … and that offense looks nothing like the Patriots offense we intend to run. In that Patriots offense, Tua would do very well!

IMHO, Trevor Lawrence is Plan B.

While a team can recover from one year of tanking, it is far harder to flip the switch and get a team to buy-in to the coach if you tank for multiple years. So the staff will not be very secure tanking for two years, which means either they will likely be fired and some other coaching staff benefits from selecting Trevor Lawrence, or the team tries to win in 2020 and we do not get the top pick, and nobody is giving up the chance to pick Trevor Lawrence. If we try to tank two years in a row, we'll have competition, just like we did when Andrew Luck came out. There is a lot of down-side to trying to tank two years in a row … and I just can't see the coaching staff surviving that … and probably not the GM either. Ross is no spring chicken. They sold him on tanking to get an elite QB in 2020 … if they don't get one, they might not be around.

Also, there are several top echelon QB's in the 2020 draft that would work for us, with my top picks being Jake Fromm and Tua. The guy with the highest upside, whom I know the Dolphins love, is Justin Herbert. But, IMHO, he needs to get his footwork better and become more consistent for him to work well in our system. Dude has crazy arm talent and flashes great accuracy … he's just not consistent yet. Those three probably each stand a decent chance of going #1 overall.

He’ll, we’ve been going through this since Dan retired in 2000, what’s 3 more years?

I’d go for Herbert. Not saying you purposely tank for two years, just trade your first rounders the next two drafts. You still get your other pics. Load up for that year. Ross has given a 5 year guaranteed contract to Flores, he knows it will take time to fix it the right way and I’m sure Flores is going to bring in his guys to make it happen and that will take more than two drafts. Do you think us tanking is going to be much different than the norm? We’re talking maybe 3 losses more or so. All I’m saying is whomever drafts Trev is going to be set for awhile. Would you trade two first rounders for Marino? Not saying he is the second coming but he sure looks like the real deal. Anyway, I know there’s no guarantee we’d get him anyway. So yeah, I agree, best QB next year.

I'm ready, brother.

I've been saying from the beginning of this year that this franchise and any regime running it is going to need more than 3 years.

Our cap looks like a porta potty inside of an outhouse in hell that Rex Ryan just used and it smells worse. We have severe needs up and down the roster. And most importantly, of course- where the hell is our QB?

I'm ready for the entire 5 year trek. The whole 3 years and let's get another do over going has not worked. It's time to give it time and I think, I hope, I pray we finally have the right FO in place to give it to.

I think Bama has more talent than OSU. Call me crazy but Tua had pro receivers, a flat out stud at TE that I wish we had and TWO stud RB's that may be the top two backs off the board come draft time. Not to mention a top flight tackle that may go top 15. May rethink your statement. Interested what Tua does with all of that talent gone. If he elevates those around him sign me up.
That being said he is a stud and I would take him all day long along with Haskins.

Yes we do know. That "high likelihood" you are talking about is called "knowing."

In a double slit photon experiment we do not know where each photon will hit on the wall, but we damn sure know where the majority will hit, and there will be a wave distribution on the wall. That is called knowing.

Just because we do not where each photon will actually hit, we do not predict that it will be a tangled web distribution. No, it will be a wave pattern. We know.

This poster brings trolling to a new level....comparing the variables involved in a controlled experiment to a bunch of 22 yr old kids running around on a football field?? Comparing protons with hardly any substance to living breathing people who get sick....injured.... have bad days and much much more? The variables involved are not even in the same galaxy....I think at this point everyone is feeding a troll unfortunately.....

I suggest re-reading this thread and finding who initiated the comparison of protons and players

Photons. Just sayin.

There is no way a pro franchise will sell the farm for a 3 year shot at a qb (Trevor). Who the hell knows what will happen between now and then. The most drastic change I have seen is the Raider's and Browns and of course the Marlins in Baseball but it's a different situation. I believe we will have a qb in our sites this year but won't be able to get him. Plan b is next year and we will be in reach unless we find an able QB in FA (not likely) or snatch a falling star this year in the draft who plans well beyond his years and we win a bunch. NFL coaching staffs don't lose on purpose season long and with FA you ca rebuild easily in 2 years if done right and find Luck somewhere.
