Dolphins Sign Cb Eric Rowe

Find someone else younger who could be a good fit for the "system" and possibly a great fit.
The guy is 26 coming off his rookie contract and was playing for the Fins new head coach... How much younger and more fitting can you get?

Rowe is a very, very good athlete with bad instincts, but he started some and played alright overall in NE. That's a depth contract (and a cheap one), and he was signed better than most depth CB's. He had technique issues coming out of Utah, and he really struggled in Philadelphia, but, while he never developed into a particularly good player in NE, he improved a lot.

His athletic profile:

6'1" 205 lbs
4.45 40
39" vert
125" broad
6.7 3C
3.97 20

At the price, I think he's a very good addition.

right and this is a small contract, shouldnt that even out?

I honestly am not 100% sure how it works.

All you can do is estimate at this point but nobody knows for sure without the 2019 season being played. People keep putting a 3 in their purse for James yet if he has his typical odd year injury you may get nothing for him.

Don’t worry about comp picks. They are nice when they are given out, but just like a theoretical planned tank, There is no guarantees until it actually happens.

so it's based on next years play?

Its a combo of things.

Contract is a big part of it, especially the AAV. But there are other factors like level of play, games played/started, team success, individual success.

And also, who you sign, combined with those same factors.

Its not nearly as black and white as some people have made it seem.

I remember a lot of people loving Rowe in the draft.

These are the types of signings you'll see. Young guys who are familiar with the system on prove it deals. Now the key is if the deal works out don't overpay like we did with Andre Branch (who did play well on that 1 year contract)

Still going to need more DBs with the nickel D on the field most of the time

We really need Tankersley to have a bounce back year. Thats a third round pick, if we have seen his best days thats a major bust.

Howard
McCain
Rowe
Tankersley
Reshad
Tj
Minkah
Jalen Davis
Maurice Smith
Cornell Armstrong

Personally I think they need to trade Reshad but the safety market is pretty deep in FA.

He has got 4/47 left but it would be all base salary for a trading team and the only guaranteed money is in 2019 . . . .so there is some limited appeal there but my guess is a 6th would be the expectation.

For everyone one year deal this year that means potentially having another hole to fill next season. I’m not a fan.

You’re worried about replacing Eric Rowe next year? We have holes all over this team and no depth either. You know why because in the past instead of acquiring more picks in the drafts to fill this roster with depth, we decided to deal our picks to move up to acquire players like Dion Jordan, Isaac Asiata and Leonte Carroo. We also trade draft picks for players like Stephone Anthony. Once we start acting responsibly as an organization and building a team the right way, through the draft, we will be able to fill needs through free agency. I don’t want any more shiny used toys!!!

That Jones contract is another Mike T special, doubt they can move him this year. Tankersley bouncing back would be so nice

I figured Rowe would be on Miami's radar. The NE connection was there. He's been a pedestrian player his entire NFL career. If health, he'll be part of the DB package the new defense is expecting to deploy. Considering what Miami had on the field last year Rowe offers potential improvements.

Why is anyone upset over this signing?
Every new coach from former teams do it. They get players they know intimately to come to the team to instill their knowledge of the new coaches game plan to other players who don’t know it that well. If anything this is a good thing for the team.
