Teddy Bridgewater Discussion (resignining With The Saints)

During Wednesday's NFC Coaches Breakfast, Payton himself announced he's finally agreed to a five-year contract that will take him through 2020. Payton has not yet signed the deal, but plans to soon

Oh ok. I thought we were talking about Bridgewater. I never put any serious thought in Payton leaving Brees and all the talent in NO for Prescott and the pile of mediocrity in Dallas to be Jones' puppet. He already has a SB there and they've been drafting like gangbusters. Odd rumor imo.

Oh no Bridgewater is a free agent...free to sign. And I’m not excited about having 7mil sitting on the bench so I hope you guys sign him.

TB is fool. why would u not take job in Miami. dolphins need QB in bad waY. I would want more money. Brees will be starter in N.O next 3yr. Dolphins will draft qb this yr. TB will be backup qb in nfl.

The one thing I know about Teddy outside of his natural football talent is that he is extremely popular - teammates, GMs, fans - everyone who knows him, loves him and it's not fake. It may not be a bad thing to have a beloved QB after the 7 years of Ryan Tannehill bland, sensible and serious.
A couple of days ago, I slammed Chris Grier for re-signing DeVante Parker. What I didn't understand was that maybe a Louisville reconnection may be part of the lure.

Calimari (Kyler Murray) - possible Arizona pick, Dwayne Haskins - possible NY Giants pick and Drew Lock - possible Denver pick, could all get drafted ahead of us - rumor has it that John Elway loves Lock's big arm. If we end up drafting say Ryan Finley or Daniel Jones or Easton Stick in a later round, it doesn't mean that they are automatically starting.

I would giveTb chance first. If he don't want come. Your plan good too.

If there is any truth in the Giants, Rosen rumour they may use their 1st RD pick on a WR with the loss of Beckham.

They would secure their successor to Eli and a stud at WR. Haskins could yet fall to us.

I don't think their is a WR worthy of drafting 6. I could see them wanting to trade down to a team that was interested in a QB but doesn't feel as though they can get one behind Miami. possibly see a team like Washington try to jump up ahead of Den, Cin, and Mia. I know Cin isn't rumored QB but if a good one falls they need to take the leap at some point. they are in the same boat as us, just slightly better QB wise. so that still has Haskins going top 10, or I could see the Raiders pulling a big surprise out and trading Carr and going QB

but if that's how the FO feels, then why did we let go of 3 vet players that can help him win? See the contradiction by the FO?

Really only one that matters and that’s James and I’m looking forward to an upgrade at RT. Wake doesn’t fit and RB’s are so easy to find.
Wake and Gore would be gone if this team was going for a Super Bowl IMHO.

How long has Brees got left in the tank? In all those years together they have one Super Bowl appearance/win, is there another in there or did they blow their best chance last season?

At the end of the day it's possible Payton decides to go to Dallas because they are well set up to compete. For all his short comings, Prescott has three winning seasons two his name (13-3, 9-7, 10-6), two division titles, and has a good TD-INT ratio. He might never be elite, but he's good enough to win with. Amari Cooper on his day is a legitimate number one receiver and Ezekiel Elliot is arguably the best running back in the league (and if he's not, he's one of them). Their OL is still solid. Defensively they have got better and had one of the better units last year.

So they aren't a team devoid of talent and a lot of their key players are in, or are heading into, their prime years. Ok he's got to work with Jerry Jones, but his recent draft record is not as bad as some make out, nor is his reputation of being a puppet master as bad as some make out. I think if Payton has doubts about how long Brees will play, or he knows when he's going to call it, he could be tempted by a situation where he slots straight into a team ready to compete rather than having to find another quarterback who then has the unenviable task of stepping in to replace Drew Brees. And that's before considering he could want a new challenge and thinks a change of scenery could be good for him.

Odd rumor? I can agree with that, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did leave to go somewhere else.

The #Saints have restructured Drew Brees' contract to clear $10.8 million in salary cap space, as they try to lock down backup QB Teddy Bridgewater and host TE Jared Cook on a free-agent visit today. It's a simple restructure. Brees is still due $23M cash in 2019.

TankForTua might dodge a bullet here. We sign Bridgewater, barring injury, you can say goodnight to a top pick. Teddy would be a lot more fun to watch than Bortles this year, though.

Miami has been a clown show, Teddy knows this.
He also knows he's been a bridge to another QB every where he goes.
He signs with Miami, they have a poor season and there goes his chance of starting elsewhere.
He wants more money to be the sacrificial pig.
