Teddy Bridgewater Discussion (resignining With The Saints)

which is why wins are not the best way to judge a QB. Teddy is arguably better- yes, but how much? It sure didn't look like much in his latest outing

It's definitely a roll of the dice ... but is the juice worth the squeeze? I tend to think it's a low risk, high reward type of move but would understand wanting to go in a different direction.

I would be much more ready to roll if he didn't affect the comp picks

As I mentioned in the Tannehill thread, I think it's becoming increasingly likely that it's a choice between starting with Bridgewater or sticking with Tannehill, so for that reason alone I'm pulling hard for this to come off.

It’s high risk low reward in the sense that it’s unlikely he’ll be a franchise QB, but there’s a decent chance that he’ll be good enough to keep the team in 6-10 mediocrity during his tenure.

Most Dolphin fans, including myself, are demoralized as is. I get that management doesn’t want things to appear as if the goal is to lose next season, but the return they’ll get on trotting out a real if mediocre QB is low from a PR standpoint, that it’s just better to be as honest as you can be. If it goes as it should, we’ll all be much happier in the long run.

I guess it depends on what you think of Bridgewater and the fins chances of putting a decent enough team around him ... which goes for any other QB they bring in as well.

Definitely not opposed to letting a QB already on the roster suck it up next season ... but I think they'll bring in at least a FA ... and Teddy would be on the top of my list.

I don’t want to sign anybody with a guaranteed second year.

Teddy looks like he will be relatively expensive. More than Osweiler or Bortles or Fitzpatrick. And since I really don’t care how these guys do, I would pick whoever comes the cheapest.

I don’t see the point in bringing in a mediocre qb. They only way to get better is to draft somebody and build a roster when that qb is still on his rookie deal. That needs to be our sole focus next year.

I'm really not even sure its a lateral move. I like Teddy a lot. Love his story. I just think hes very limited. Ok arm. Not really mobile. What characteristic of his can you point to and say that's above average. Accuracy is decent. Hes coming back from an atrocious injury. Nearly losing his leg. Is he mentally prepared to play with that?

He was a game manager in Minnesota with the best running back of my generation and top ten defense. He threw for 14 TDs and 12 Ints in his best season. He's not gonna have the same luxury here. Quite the opposite. Hes gonna have to score points with less than stellar weapons and a below average oline and a bottom third defense.

I never said he was above average, just mediocre at best. Like Tannehill.

Over 4000 yards, 27 TDs and 12 INTs isn't significantly better than 3200 yards 14 TDs and 9 INTs....umm how?

With 147 more attempts with an additional year of experience? Umm...no, I don't feel that is significantly better.

He replied to me as if I was trying to shine a better light on Tannehill by comparing only their best years... While I was only commenting on a previous post about precisely comparing their best year...

Sorry, I was agreeing with you. I should have been clearer.

And for the record, I don't want Bridgewater or Tannehill, so I don't mean to come across as Bridgewater's biggest fan.

Seeing our options being so limited is reminding me of that feeling I got watching Dante Culpepper demonstrate ge was the turnover machine I'd thought he was in that 2006 season. We're ****ed this year.
