Son of a b%$#! Now my Tannehill signed special edition Dolphins football will never go up in value. It has a bible verse number and everything.

:mad::mad::mad:

That sht is unbelievable,. That is a terrible deal!!

Tannehill was to account for 26.6 cap number this year.

if they just cut him post June 1. his cap number would've been 7.8, and the gain would have been 18.8 mil.

With the trade, instead of 26.6, The Dolphins take the hit of 13.4 mil original trade, plus 5 mil they paid in guarantees only to be able to get a fkn fourth round pick NEXT YEAR, and the hit is now 18.4 mil.
And they are advertising the savings of 8 mil: 26.6 - 18.4.

It's unbelievable man!

And to get that deal, they traded out of a sixt rd pick this year (15 pts) to seventh round which is basically 1 pts, an undrafted value. (You need 3 sixth round pick to move up to fifth round, and 30-40 seventh round picks to move to fifth round. The Dolphins traded out of sixth round to seventh round).

It is just unreal man.

I mean you do know that we are free and clear after this season...No dead cap...off the books.

This makes more sense and explains why we got a 4th back. Tennessee isn't as crazy as this trade initially suggested but still a win.

Miami is taking $18 million dead . . . So $5 million more than if we cut him.

But they now get a 4th rounder and let me tell you we talk about trading up for the franchise signal caller in 2019 or 2020 . . .these are the pieces to put together that package to go get your guy.

Well played.

Yep....but, and most don't wanna hear this, I really hope it's in 2020. Not sold on anyone really in this year's draft. Murray the current wunderkind may turn out to be another Russell Wilson...or..another Pat White. All in all, a weak QB class compared to what is expected to be available in 2020.

If they wait to cut him, he then takes part in team activities and could get hurt (it's happened before)...and then the Dolphins have to pay him the full years' salary.

Regardless of the deal the Dolphins worked out, some here wouldn't be happy no matter what they had to do. I am just glad that the drama is done and hopefully the conversation here will shift. I highly doubt it but I am going on vacation in an hour and really don't give a rat's behind.

It seems fairly apparent that the Fins are going to be in damn good cap shape in 2020, regardless. It's a clean break, and the Fins basically paid 5 mm of this year's cap for a 4th round pick next year. Let's see what they do with the rest of the cap, and how much they can carry over into 2020.

Lol at all the folks chiming in “but I thought no one wanted to trade for him”

A) it’s a new contract for a backup
B) this trade was for a 4th next year and a 7th this year, and cost us a 6th this year

I mean seriously we got what we could , and it was barely anything.

We are going to regret this Guys. For all the faults Tannehill had he is still pretty much a great QB. Someone that gives you a chance to win the game every Sunday. The organization will come to regret this.....

Said no one ever....

Well done, especially considering al the non-sense being sprayed on this forum. I think i'll pay more attention to your posts.

Thank you....but please be advised, I sometimes go off the rails (especially while drinking)....what do you expect? - I'm a long time Dolphins fan (which is why I drink so much).
