Ryan Fitzpatrick To Miami

Id rather have my colon cleansed with a bottle brush than spend a year having to watch Fitzpatrick. Bleh.

Bummed about this.

Don't like it.

I wanted to roll the rock with Luke "what the" Falk.

Even if Miami somehow finishes with 5-6 wins, they've acquired a good amount of draft picks in 2020 to possibly trade up? It's just thinking about the worst case scenario with Fitzpatrick under center, meaning more wins then originally thought. I truly believe Miami is going to trade down from #13. The 2019 draft is deep and they could get more ammunition for 2020 in doing so? Fitzpatrick isn't going to change the plan, except adding win or two more.
Trade up for what? You think the team bad enough to pick him #1 is going to all of a sudden realize that they need picks more?

I have a feeling it’s QB this draft and the first game of the year will be Ryan vs draftee in camp.

How does a 37 year old career back-up help this team rebuild other than being what he is- a career back-up and a contingency plan?

He’s a great addition if he holds a clipboard and mentors a kid. Other than that, he’s a waste of time and snaps IMO.

I don’t think the FO is banking on any “If's” next year. The odds are that one of the top 3 QBs will fall to 13. And he’ll either sit or beat out Ryan in camp.

First move by the FO so far that is disappointing to me and by the posts on this thread, it seems that I’m in the minority.

Now, that I like. It’s nice to see the positivity on this very important decision.

I’m not with it unless it’s a QB or a trade down.

At least Sundays will be all the more exciting. Which QB will we get, the looks like a HOF QB or the please pick up a water bottle and make yourself useful QB?

If we can't get a stud QB in this years draft, we need at least competency to help this raw coaching staff get their bearings...they need an "NFL caliber" QB so they can develop game plans and learn about the other offensive personnel. It doesn't help anyone if we can't at least compete offensively.

I refuse to sit here and be ok with intentionally or secretively losing games.. sacrificing the fan base...player development....the culture...injuries...jobs...for a top pick. Talk about having no integrity. Play to win and whatever the record is at the end we deal with that. Make deals to get who u want. Cant believe some here are on board with this way of thinking.
Fan base: We have trouble selling season tickets as is. You think that if we tank and then become the Browns the following year that all the fans aren't going to show up? The Browns... THE BROWNS... have a waiting list now for season tickets.
Player development/Culture: What culture? We've made the playoffs 2 times in the last billion years and got blown out both times. What culture do we have that we would somehow lose?

Your mindset is what has led to this mess in the first place, always trying to patch holes on top of a leaky foundation, always trying to sign the "missing piece" in free agency, someone that will put us over the top. "Play to win and whatever the record is at the end we deal with that" is such a myopic view. That indicates that you have no long term strategy and only look at current year moves.

Your way got us 6-10 last season. What integrity do we hold from that? Are you proud walking around as a Dolphin fan and the lack of success that they've had because they did it the "right" way? The "right" way is whatever way gets you to the Super Bowl, not some make believe NFL chivalry. Dolphin fans and their expectations have become so embarrassingly low that fans like you actually pray to just make the playoffs. That shouldn't be your expectation.

Lets just say you're right and that we still get a top 3 pick. We're still loosing a comp pick plus a great chance to play two young QB's to see what we have with them. Instead we're going to give those snaps to a guy that the whole world knows will not be a part of our future so even if we lose out and get a top pick, this is still a bad move for the future of this team.

Here's the thing. No one really knows how the compensatory pick works, so the addition of Fitzpatrick might not cost us a pick, especially at the price we've paid. If it does then how bad a move this is depends on what pick we lose. If it's a 6th or 7th rounder, I'm not overly concerned; if however it's a 3rd or 4th, then I'd be annoyed.

With that said, it is hard to imagine this team heading into the season with Falk and Rudock. Yes as fans it might be interesting to see who comes out on top, and how good these can be. But realistically it's a hard sell for anyone paying their hard earned going to watch. Granted Fitzpatrick isn't exactly a reason to attend, but the offense should fit better with him under center unless we've got a diamond in the rough.

The other thing to consider here is there's no guarantee he will start. If there's an open competition maybe one of the youngsters wins the job and he backs them up. Or maybe we draft someone in the first round or day two (e.g. Grier) and they land the job. It's early days to anoint Fitzpatrick our starter.

We were never going to go into the season with Falk and Rudock at 1 and 2 and I'm not sure why anyone thought that was a realistic possibility.

Please let this be a signal that we are targeting our QB in the 2019 draft. I’d be completely on board with Fitzpatrick for 7-8 weeks, then hand over the controls to Haskins or Murray.
