Opinion: Giants Will Trade For Rosen - How Would The Dolphins Respond?

Just saying I don’t think it’s gonna cost you assets if he gets past the Giants

You can sit at 13 and just see how the board goes but I’m becoming more of a believer that he sees pick 13 at least.

I guess the only risk in this case would be if the Bengals took Haskins or if the Redskins traded up to take him. Notwithstanding those possibilities I agree with you that the Dolphins should stand pat and see who falls to them.

I also think it is advantageous for the Dolphins to draft their QB this year and begin his development so as to be in a better position to attract quality free agents next year - similar to the Jets success in free agency this year.

Rosen was setup fail. Bakerfield look the best out of 2018 qb but only qb that made playoff was Jackson. Allens played alright as rookie. Darnold, Jackson and Rosen. they all need inproved their games. or less they will become backup qb. one thing I like about Rosen one yr experience in nfl. NFL doesn't do good job at evaluating QB.

I do n't think Darnold is that good. I may be wrong but he look like bust to me.
1.Bakerfield should be alright in nfl.
2.Allens look like a young Cam Newton.
3. Jackson running football is not going wk but so long????
4 Darnold usc qb???
5 Rosen need go to right team or he will fail in nfl.

The Giants are doing something similar to the Dolphins... they may have decided to use Eli this year and get his replacement next year.

That COULD be true but here in the NY area some of the talk is that Haskins would benefit from some time learning behind an established QB.... If that's their thought process than it would make perfect sense for them to take Haskins and let him be groomed behind Manning in his final season.

I can see that too!

The Dolphins should not be taking a QB in the first round (either at 13 or trading up) unless they are positive the guy is going to be a star. If you are tearing things down, the absolute worst thing you can do is wed yourself to a QB you're not absolutely convinced is the guy. It's even worse when the person you really want next year is within your grasp.
I think it’s safe to assume they aren’t gonna reach on someone they don’t absolutely feel is the right guy with their first big pick. Flores and Grier seem to be very confident so far with their plan. They haven’t wavered at all. For some reason I feel like the team is in good hands right now.

I had heard that the Cardinals would only trade Rosen for a #1. Obviously, even Gettleman wouldn't be so stupid as to trade pick #6 to the Cardinals for Rosen but might be willing to trade pick #17 - hence the rationale behind the OBJ trade. Rosen seems to fit the profile of the type of QB that the Giants (and Patriots) typically draft i.e. more cerebral than athletic.
Rosen to the giants actually makes a lot of sense. Then they could grab a stud wideout or TE at 6, or hell even trade back with that pick and go nuts. I really want Haskins though so I’m a little biased about the giants, they have been clearly the favorite to grab him until a week or so ago.

the only problem I have w qb is you don't know which one will end up being elite. passing up qb. that you don't think is going be good can still hurt you too. picking qb these day is luck.

I agree, more or less, which is why I don’t think they’re taking a QB in the first round.

Two things that don’t help us heck maybe three things that don’t in terms of what falls to us at 13.

Montez sweat heart condition.

Josh Jacobs running mid 4.6s on what I imagine to be a fast bama track equates to about a 4.73 for me combine time. Not happening top 12 heck may not be a rb drafted top 50 in this class even.

Dj metcalfs 3 cone.

Metcalf will not be affected I don't think but I don't know that he was top 12 anyways
Jacobs was never going in front of us, he is a part time starter with not a lot of production
Sweatt will slip now, I agree with you there

Would you have drafted him last year ???
Yes, because I thought we were going to need to develop a QB and Rosen was selected by AZ just before we picked Minkah Fitzpatrick. I'm also a Minkah fan and delighted he is a Miami Dolphin.
While Rosen didn't light things up, (he had a very poor Cardinals O-line to protect him) and he's still a smart developmental QB. Trading for him now seems like the opportunity to get good value from a draft pick.

Considering how savvy the Giants have been with QB's lately, they know when to draft (round) and when to cut him. See their list of QB taken and then cut.
I'd be more than little leery of taking Haskins if the Giants pass on him.

That one year of true starting experience on a loaded team must be evaluated carefully.
