Tankleberry Finn...
OK well that isn't going to happen for all the reasons explained at various points in this thread, and if you are expecting that then it explains why you're so disappointed/upset. Deliberately being as bad as possible just to get the #1 pick next year is not a realistic expectation.I am saying who I want instead. If the plan is to draft a qb next year, then I would want to play one of the young guys they already have on their roster. I do not need a guy playing qb who is just competent enough to take Miami out of prime position to draft the best qb in next year's draft but inept enough to not make the team a contender.
.
Are we that much worse than before? I'm not convinced. If lightning were to strike and our first 3 picks win starting spots, we could actually improve.
Why is it not a realistic expectation? How many teams do you think will be worse than Miami especially if Miami didn't plan on starting Fitzpatrick? Maybe the Giants, maybe Arizona, maybe Cincinnati. If you look you will see that according to Vegas, Miami is an underdog in every game they have on their schedule this season.OK well that isn't going to happen for all the reasons explained at various points in this thread, and if you are expecting that then it explains why you're so disappointed/upset. No group of players or coaches are going to go out an d deliberately lose. The FO may decide not to furnish the coaches with a great selection of players but there still needs to be a level of competency to avoid other long term issues. Just throwing anyone in at QB will cause more issues than it solves. The answer to our current issues is not to do whatever it takes to get the #1 pick next year. Why is not a realistic expectation? Or.... and hear me out....
Maybe they don't want year 1 to be a COMPLETE disaster and would like to have a veteran around to be able to properly evaluate or young guys. With Falk or Rudock we could never evaluate the young offensive players that will be on the roster.
Do you really believe Murray is still an option?Would’ve rather have given a young QB the opportunity, no matter how slight the chance, to grow. We know what Fitz is.
If we’re most likely to struggle anyway, struggle with possible growth.
What excites me about Fitz is the prospect of the knowledge he can/will impart to Murray.
Kinda related, but I've been mulling over this since he sign. Apologies if anyone else has already brought this up but I wonder if the NFL have told the dolphins to "at least show as if you are trying" by signing a vet with starting experience rather than just rolling with the two we had under contract plus a late round draft pick. I'm sure the NFL aren't too keen having a situation where it is clear that one team is deliberately losing games, even before the season starts.
In the last 10 years there's only been one first year HC who's gotten the #1 overall pick. Steve Wilks, who was rightfully canned. If that were to happen here you'd rightfully can Flores and that sets whatever program you establish back a year.
