Drew Lock Meets With Dolphins

I think we are getting assets to trade up.

Haskins makes the perfect fit imo.(smart, accurate, big school, teammates love him)

We are getting a additional 3rd round pick in 2020 for James leaving & a extra 4th round pick in 2020 for Tannehill.

We are probably getting a additional picks for Wake leaving & trading Quinn.

I could see us trade #13 and a 2nd this year & a 3rd & 4th next year to move up for a QB.

We like the big strong armed guys. In this draft that would be Drew Lock, who I don't think is quite good enough, but he'll probably go to Denver at 10 or to someone else higher. In 2020 that is Justin Herbert, who I do rate very highly, but he needs to work on his footwork and become more consistent. It seems our scouts are truly looking for the next Marino, not the next Brady.

If this kid is there at 13 we better take him. He is going to be a good NFL Starter. He can sit for a year getting NFL speed while he learns the system like rookies on a bad team are supposed to. We can’t pass on another legitimate starter. This guy is being overlooked like Brees and Rogers but Lock is a Lock and if he’s there we have to pull the trigger. We’ve waited long enough it’s time for our franchise QB and this kid is it.

I think Haskins in most NFL ready.

But of course system dependent.

He'd be a very good fit for the O I assume we'll run.

note: I think we have a pretty decent prospect on the roster with Falk -- very high comp %
very highly productive in red zone -- smart very hard worker -- NOT the athlete Lock is
and not the arm talent...
Haskins barely has a full year starting and Falk got cut from a Titans team that always needs a backup QB, how is Haskins the most ready with 14 games under his belt vs a 4 year starter with an NFL arm?

exactly why i want to take a shot on one this year. if he aint the ticket, we should be in a spot to grab lawrence or another emerger in 2021

If you have a high enough grade on a QB in any specific round you should almost ALWYAYS take the QB.

Unless you have a Montana/Young situation, you always NEED another prospect.

The NFL has moved away from grooming QBs and done the trial by fire thing for the last 15 years. You can’t develop a guy into having Dan Marino’s talent but individual talent doesn’t win Super Bowls anyway.

Quick release is the point to note. He doesn't take many sacks, which suggests he reads it quick and gets rid of the ball quick. The knock on Lock is inconsistency, but that can potentially be coached out.
I have only seen his highlights, but the lack of sacks seems more like a function of an amazing OL than Lock’s ability to quickly read defenses or any other of his skills. Can he be elite with a fraction of the time to throw that he had in college? Also, if his OL was as elite or consistently anywhere near what his highlights show on a down by down basis, shouldn’t his completion percentage be much higher?

Not saying Lock can’t be a great QB, but even the best NFL OL is not going to be able to protect like what he was able to have in college. Anyone see how he does under pressure or when hurried?

Haskins and Murray only started one year.... Lock has a lot more experience.

Yes... he is very mobile and goes thru his progressions...his O-line was not great.

He does not have the arm. He is Ryan Tannehill without the arm talent. He may go early because teams are always desperate for qbs, but he really shouldn’t be drafted until the 3rd or later. He not good at the things qbs need to do.

I don’t like Lock either. Sub 60% passer for his career is a no go. NFL requires you to be accurate.

If you watched all his throws... his receivers dropped a lot of balls.
