On Which Side Of The Ball...

BPA doesn't exist and was invented by GMs/coaches as a smokescreen. Nobody out there is completely discounting team need in making these selections.

IMO, the safest play is a trade down to acquire an extra pick this year and next. If we can get an extra 2 this year and next that would be money.

But some would say that safe is for pu$$ies. History books are not written on men that played it safe.

My take on the OP question...

Build a championship defense .... I believe you can always justify an exception to that rule but the stronger your defense the fewer points allowed is going to be and you will win a few of those close ones...

Build a TEAM.... the QB will come... set a foundation and build it around a championship defense... of course, IMO

Holy crap you guys are so wrong. We need to build the oline... How long have we been trying to get a good oline? For decades! Meanwhile our defenses have been great at times in the past but were always getting gashed late in games because they were gassed from being on the field so often from so many 3 and outs by the offense.

Our real problem is that we suck at drafting offensive lineman and defensive lineman... And that hasnt really changed since Chris Greir running the show.

The focus should be in the trenches. It’s probably our biggest need and it also happens to be the strength in this years draft. Thats not always the case and it’s something we need to capitalize on. Whether it’s OL first or DL first it doesn’t matter we need both. Ideally we can trade back and turn pick 13 into 2 guys to help bolster the lines. If we could somehow end up with Garrett Bradbury and Dexter Lawrence that would be a great start

Let me get this straight.

We suck at drafting O-line, so we should draft O-line.

 And, we’re the ones who are “so wrong”

I’d be great to have a championship defense but how good would that defense be if they’re constantly on the field because the offense is no good?

our first goal should be find qb. second goal should be fix that oline.our defense suck last yr and we still almost made playoff. your not going stop these high power offense anyway. nfl is about offense scoring point. if u cannot score u will be last wildcard team or not make playoff.

You have to draft with the strength of the draft.
If the FO feels that one of the top 3 QBs is worthy of the 13th pick, then so be it
If none are there, then you go with the strength of the draft-defensive line
Not enough value at the OG position in this draft to invest the 13th pick on.

Offensive line can win and lose games with time of possesion.
