Dolphins Willing To Eat Salary In Robert Quinn Trade - Visiting Cowboys

sometimes players have a "trade upon approval" clause but this one is probably because of the restructure

Thanks.

I don't see this as good news. I don't know why he'd decline a deal and go back to a rebuilding team that doesn't want him rather than join a playoff team.

But Antonio Brown just showed everyone that the player really does have the power if they are ready to create a **** storm. Quinn's declining play doesnt put him in such a position but with Dolphins luck, we'll be having a disgruntled player back in the locker room.

If you're job tried to get rid of you but they couldn't succeed, would you go back to work without holding a grudge? Maybe some would return with a smile on their face ready to prove the employer wrong. I wouldn't. I'd be pissed. I'd do my job just enough to not get fired, not with effort to be the best I could be.

We probably want too much and teams know we don't really want him. They might wait us out

They don’t actually have to trade him for a draft pick. They could also use him to move up in a given round. For example Quinn and a 5th for a teams 4th rounder
Most teams are reluctant to part with picks, so a switch of draft picks would possibly be more palatable

Thanks.

So you would put out bad tape as a 29 year old player. So you could sign a 1 year prove it deal for pennies on the dollar. All to try to get top dollar again at the age of 31. With 2 years extra years of ware on your body. Sounds like a plan made up by Bells agent last year.

Good point.

It behooves him to continue to play as hard as possible.

I'd still be a bad sport when it came to coaches. That's just me. I would not be a happy camper.

You don’t need to be friends with the coaches or be happy to do what is best for you. And if he doesn’t get traded, I can’t think of a much better place to spend the winter months at.

That last part is for damn sure.

I'd rather have my players fully invested. But you're right.

Any way you spin it, though, no trade is bad news on all fronts.

I am mixed as I like Quinn but in the bigger picture of things, does he fit the plan of a re-build over the long run? He is an expensive one year player and I am not sure if he would sign an affordable contract for an additional 3 years? They could use the lack of interest by other teams with Quinn and try to negotiate a longer term deal. I think he would be a good stop gap while the team tries to get younger talent.

The other point I think is worth noting is the discussion of the poor pass rush by the fins last year. Is it the quality of players or was it the poor defensive coaching we saw from Matt Burke, who is Philly's Defensive Special Assistant (what is that position).
