Mock Draft First Try

But like you said, one was taken with the idea he would be the starter from day one. This one is suggesting we draft two guys that everyone knows are not ready to start in their rookie year if ever.

Yah but that only makes it more of a reason. They took a guy they assumed would be a long term starter and still valued the position enough to take a backup plan. The backup plan ended up being the better value by far. Point being that its an important enough position to take 2 of if you think theres good value available twice when youre drafting.

Im not saying his choices are good ones, I dont really know anything about them. Im saying theres no reason not to take 2 QBs in a draft as a hardline rule.

So here's the results of my mock

1)-Jonah Williams-some would call this a bit of a reach but this guy replaces James at RT. I believe he will be a much better player than James.
2)-Jeffery Simmons-DLine, Miss. St.-Big run stuffing monster. These first 2 picks begin to rebuild the trenches.
3)-Tyree Jackson-QB Buffalo 6'7" A bit raw but a ton of talent and a huge arm. He begins as a back up but there's more fun coming.
4)Gerald Willis-DLine, Miami- I enjoyed watching this kid play for my favorite college team. An unstoppable force with a nasty swim move say one scout, he was compared to Sheldon Richardson. More help for the trenches!
5)KeeSean Johnson-WR-Fresno St. He'll replace Amendola. He has a ton of production with about 1400 receiving yard with 8 TDs
6)-Travis Homer-RB U of Miami-Another local star that I've been watching. Homer always seemed to break the long run in the clutch. He's a 4.4 guy.
7) Easton Stick-QB N Dakota St.-That's right!! I double dipped at QB. This is what we need to do until a star QB emerges. If CK likes Stick I like Stick! He first alerted me to this kid who, by the way, might become a huge star in the NFL. Interesting QB room-Fitz, Jackson and Stick.
Stick is not an NFL qb, I have watched every snap live for 3 years and he doesnt have it. He is quite poor at reading through his progressions and isnt all that accurate when having to throw into a tight window(which he rarely had to do). People are expecting him to be the next Wentz due to playing at the same school but that is all they have in common.

Ck will eat major crow for his Easton Stick lovefest he has right now.

I like
R.1 Christian Wilkins
R.2 Chris Lindstrom
R.3 LJ Collier

Jackson and Stick are both interesting. In terms of talent alone, Jackson looks like a high pick. He has a rocket arm and can move in the pocket. Some Cam Newton in his game. The scouting/media reports I've read say he is very slow at reading the defense and a bad decision maker. I don't know how much that can improve. The position really requires quick thinking. It's one of the biggest things that held Tannehill back.

I've been trying to come up with a comparison for Stick. I think it's a combination of Trubisky (athletic-wise) and Jay Fielder (inconsistent with accuracy). He is said to be very coachable. I like his ability to feel the pressure (pocket presence). Hard to tell how good he is because of the level of competition, but seems to have an adequate arm. I see nothing wrong with taking a couple of developmental quarterbacks.

Using the 13th pick on a RT to replace the one you drafted at 19 just 6 years before would possibly be the most Dolphins move ever.

The current admin moved on from James because his play didn't match an asking price that we are willing to spend. I don't really want us to go OL in the first but if Grier et al. determine that the talent is there to justify the pick I'm going to go with it until its proven that the pick/evaluation was incorrect. I would prefer to ind OL later and develop them...

Dolphins trade back in draft if they choose any QB this year, at least to 19 or 20 and pick up a 3rd

I am OK with the 2 QB's, but I would do it if were were able to trade down. THe original mock has no trades included, understandably; if we were able to make a trade or two in round 1 and 2, then grab extra oline and dline, plus 2 QBs, then OK. We need a draft with at least 2 oline and 2 dline additions, ... did you grab a CB /S hybrid in that draft? We will need DBs as well. Maybe more than RB

Why draft two shitty QBs? Wouldn't one be enough?

While they're effectively starting over, what the team did 5 years ago means nothing to the new regime... But picking up a RT with the 1st pick, would be the opposite of what they've been doing this offseason, which is essentially "buying" draft picks. In this case they would "buy" James cap hit with a 1st round pick... Makes no sense in the current situation.

However, I would've had no problem with the Fins picking up OL in the first had they kept James, its the replacing him with a 1st that would be shortsighted IMO...
