The Draft Network - Fins Mock

So remember it, hold onto it, and enjoy it when the ship turns around...as far as the pick goes, I'd rather take OL instead of a QB in desperation. If Lock or Haskins is there at 13, then maybe, but this isn't the same as Matt Ryan and Jake Long. I was screaming for us to take Ryan but we went with Long...
I agree with you in that you want to take the best talent that can help your team. IMHO, neither Lock nor Haskins would be a good choice. There are over 100 players I'd take before those guys, and yes, Jonah is one of those 100. I'm not against drafting impact-making OL at 13 overall. Look at the impact Travis Fredrick had late in the 1st round for Dallas … and universally all the 'experts' panned it as a terrible choice … but the fact of the matter was he was very talented and it was a great pick. They took the "limited" Zack Martin and plugged him in at guard, and he's been playing at an All-Pro level and proved to be an absolute gem of an OL. Ditto for Quentin Nelson with the Colts … these guys are phenomenal. So I'm definitely not against taking an impact OL in the 1st round.

I didn't say our linebacker play was great. You implied that you couldn't cover up for a bad defensive line and I gave you examples of how you could.

I'm not against drafting Dline at 13 as I know this draft is loaded at DT. I'm just against the idea that we are going to purposely pass on a good Olineman if he's there and pick a lesser Dlineman just because Oline is considered a lesser position.

Don't get it twisted. I would absolutely draft a stud DT at 13 if he's there over a "pretty good" RT, but if all things were equal I'd take the RT just because of the added value you get out of snap counts.

I implied that you couldn't cover up a bad defensive and replied that you have soild points. Your statement implies that I didn't give you credit for the sensible input.

The problem with if all things are equal is that nothing is equal in the draft because you don't know what you are getting. If you mean equal as in same draft grade, I still have to disagree with you.

Look at the oline we trotted out last year even when injuries killed us. Gore ran for over 4 yards a gain. Tanne many times had plenty of time to get rid of the football but held it as he was known to do.

We were 29th in sacks and 31st total yards against the run last year and 26th per carry.

We were 9th with 4.7 yards a carry rushing, 18th with yards per game. All with a broken oline.

We were 3 way tied for 6th most given up sacks in the year so that does support your point but were also #2 in passing attempts because we were usually playing from behind.

I know it's just one sample in the biggest game of the year but it was won by defense. They did the same thing to another Rams team in another super bowl game suffocating the greatest show on turf to a mere 17 points.

The Giants beat an overwhelming Patriots team and saved us the perfect season how? Getting to Brady.

I'm all for a high powered offense but it is said that defense wins championships. I'm not sure if I buy all the way into that saying but it's a saying nonetheless so there has to be reason behind it.

All things being tied, get me someone that can affect the game by himself; a DT stuffing the run/pressure up the middle or an edge rusher that can sack/panic the QB. I'm not sure why that's not elemtentary.

I'm like totally down keeping our homegrown talent

but James @that price is/was beyond laughable!

Yet there's more!

James was pretty SUCK in general

when your evaluation includes (a)

availability/dependability

+

(b) let's be real

the dude dosen't have any

eyebrows! Yep. That's a righteous fact!

Don't know about YOU

but for me

any dude sans eyebrows

just ain't no down and dirty mean SOB in the trenches!

I want dudes with dung on their eyebrows and

stop the whining "I'm out for another game" with a torn

tampon! JK

NOT.

OK. That said

I wannna go BIGS

across the board but

from an intellectual standpoint

would prefer (jujitsu) trade down maneuver.

If that's not (value rated) possible then

in my most humble opinion

we gotta go BIGS ON D R1 hike!

or for those who can remember:

"BIGS ON D R1 go go!"

I liked your post.

I don't understand it, but it was entertaining!

Ditto.

I'd like an impactful defender. But OL wouldn't upset me either.

smh....we have our franchise LT, and because of our perpetual garbage QB play for the last 20 years we have people ok with taking OL at 13 lol. im not saying QB at 13 because this class is weak, but damn. Lets get someone who is an impact defensive player at 13 and pick up someone like grier or stidham later in the draft. the OL is going to have to be coached up and an elite QB will improve it as well.

Meant that tongue-in-cheek, although Tua is likely one of a few quarterbacks Miami would like to have from the 2020 draft.
Tua I don't trust because he is on stack team. he look over hype. 2 games I saw him played. he should of been bench.

The only reason I can see us going OL at 13 is the fact that since Grier has been here we've only been successful with lineman from the 1st round. Our scouting department is absolutely horrible at identifying OL talent beyond the 1st round.
