Dolphins Purge May Not Be Over

We can all agree getting rid of Mike Tannenbaum was the best thing Ross has done. Rashad Jones is the biggest contract mistake that justifies firing Tannenbaum. Miami is paying for his mistake for the foreseeable future, or until Jones finally comes off the books. Perhaps Grier pulls another rabbit out of his hat and somehow finds a trade partner for Jones?

I'll be sad to see him go, one of my favorite players, but the time has come. I can't see us trading him though, the contract amount is too much. Someone else said it, but maybe a team has an injury and we are willing to eat the contract some. Idk

They can certainly absorb any dead money with $40 million in cap room this year and $100 million in 2020. A trade would be ideal, TJ can play SS and Jones might actually fetch a decent pick

Small sample size, but I liked the Minkah/TJ pairing when Reshad "quit" in that game.

if cut post June the dead money is still over 17mill
In 2020 thought he can be cut and the dead money would "only" be just over 4mill
in 2021 we'd take another hit of just over 4mill

If we manage the cap correctly from now on then we can afford the 4mill in 2020 & 2021
But like it's been said already, we're stuck with him for now. I could see a trade right before the regular season or even after but we'd still get a hit(which we can afford) but getting a pick would be nice. I hope this FO never gives out a contract this bad again.

That's if he's traded.

If he's cut post 6/1 in 2020, the cap hit is $6.1 mm, and then $4mm in 2021.

Reshad Jones DB, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero would "not be surprised" if the Dolphins try to trade S Reshad Jones prior to the season.
The Dolphins can save over $13.1 million against the cap by trading Jones after June 1. He currently carries the team's largest cap number for 2019 at over $17 million, and having a safety count that much for a team in total rebuild likely isn't viewed as ideal. Jones is recovering from another torn labrum in his shoulder and turned 31 last month. The Dolphins are in the business of stacking draft picks and freeing up money at the moment.

Not a bad player but highly overrated on this board. A freaking SS making the most money on your team and people wonder why we've been bad for so long. It starts at the top. So happy T-dumb is gone.

If we trade him expect peanuts. No one is going to give up valuable resources to take on that contract.

Good. Get rid of him. Guy quit on the team and plays by his rules not the teams.

Playing by his own rules was the wise choice in a Burke lead defense, considering how atrocious Burke was and the entire coaching staff on that side of the ball.

Who cares if he took himself out of a game, I'm sure he had his reasons and that's in the past now like he said.

Let him work with a real defensive coaching staff like he will FINALLY have this year, the talent didn't just disappear and no one is going to trade us s*** for him anyway.

...far and away Ireland's best R5 pick!

I've always liked the dude (he's a real football player IMO) and

don't see a tremendous amount of value dumping him...

For me the only legit question is how sound his shoulders are?

If he's good to go physically I think he's still got some game left.
