I voted against tanking. I don't believe we are necessarily "tanking" on purpose. It's just part of what this process is going to be. I believe this team will, to the best of it's ability, compete to win. And we do have talent on the offensive side and a QB who can put up some big games. So I'd caution anyone who thinks we're going to be getting the 1st, 2nd or maybe even 3rd overall pick next year.

I voted Undecided.....my reasoning/thoughts: wait and see how the first half of the season plays out...if by some crazy streak of luck at mid season we are 6-2 or something at least over .500 then try to win out and make playoffs....if not, tank the rest of the games in a bid to get into the top 3-5 of the draft order.

I've said before that I don't believe teams start a season planning to tank the whole year but may make the decision to tank (and I wouldn't disagree with them) when all hope is lost at some point during the season when it's apparent they won't be a factor in post season play.

As a sports fan I would never cheer for tanking. if that's what the fins are doing then I will just skip watching this season. An actual good owner never would push for a tank, he would hire competent people and let them build a damn team. Although I would never classify our owner as a good owner.

I had you on ignore...

Thought I was being petty because you were intentionally being obtuse...now I regret not keeping you there.

Who said anything about giving up the farm? This thread is about tanking, which removes the need for giving up anything.

Stop posting just to say something. Have something to say.

Now...back to ignore you go.
Just because people don’t agree with your stance you put them on ignore, what a pus. I did have something to say, and I said it. You come off as you know everything and everybody else is stupid if they don’t agree with you. Put me on ignore

I'd rather call it a rebuild, but I'm all in. I'm hoping we have something by year 3 or 4.

It is a rebuild. If we end up with Tua, Herbert, Fromm or Lawrence everyone will be on board. It will take a few years but if done right it will be worth it.

Hard question. It would be nice if a plan (tanking) works and everything from now on had a purpose to a higher level. But as a fan of a team i just can't support the idea about loosing week in and out just to get that "ideal" pick most of us are dreaming about. You never know if it turns out the way you want it in the end. If this was a sport like soccer (as you guys calls it) the fans would never accept the team loosing on purpose and since im from Europe i just can't follow that idea totally.

On the other part it will be interesting to see if it actually works. So after all this crap i would probably be undecided.

If it is "Tank for Tua" I am all in. If it is tank for anyone else next year, I vote no. The past 15 year with rotating QBs, followed by the Henne-Tannehill decade has been brutal being a Dolphin fan which I've been since 1972 (F*ck I'm getting old!)

Before 2004 Miami was the top franchise in winning percentage for all teams in major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB).

My view is if the Dolphins don't have a top 10 QB then they have QB problems. I think Tua is already a top 5 passer at the NFL level. His ability to throw the ball down the field on a dime is better than any college QB I've seen. No matter how many repetitions 99.9% of QBs do, they won't replicate the kind of accuracy he has down the field. Not only does he check all the boxes I put X & O's in most of them.

If Miami messes up and misses on Tua next year I would be all in on "Lousy for Lawerence" in 2021.

Within 2-ish years Brady, Brees, Roethlesberger, Rivers will be aging out and Rodgers and Ryan aren't too far behind. Barring injury and if Tua and Lawerence go to a quality organization with a decent supporting cast I see those two as near locks to join ranks of Luck, Wilson, Mahomes, Mayfield and Watson as the future top 10 at the QB position...

Wentz, Goff, Prescott in the neighborhood and too early to tell for Trubinsky, Darnold and Allen. Who knows about Murray, Haskins, Hebert or Fromm yet.
Matt Ryan can stay as long as he likes :)

I'm for stopping the big money free agent signings and pretending we're 1-2 players away from competing like when we signed Suh. I'm for stopping putting a bandaid on long term problems like when we signed a 32 year old Sitton. I'm for fixing the cap by getting rid of bloated contracts. If that's called tanking than tank away.

Nah that's just what smart teams do every year. That's not tanking. This just makes too much sense.

I am not just against the tank, I am extremely against the tank, considering nothing good has ever come out of a team expecting to lose most of the season.

These are competitive athletes, that if tanking an entire season does not make them feel with each loss more and more homicidal, then there is something very wrong with the reason they're playing football.

Nothing good has ever come out of losing on purpose, yet many cases have turned around from a team that finally found the right coaching, and mindset.

Here's where Ross's remarks were interpreted as tanking which in fact meant rebuilding.
______________________________________________________________________________

Stephen Ross raised some eyebrows during a Dec. 31 news conference:

Ross said "Adam Gase "wanted to win and win now" and that the Dolphins were taking a different approach -- one that included a rebuild -- to escape mediocrity.

Ross "If it takes a year or so, two years, three years, we're going to be there," Ross said at the time.

Grier said,
" There's no tanking,, It's hard when you say you want tough, competitive guys who love ball and you bring them in and say, 'Hey, let's not do it this year. Let's just relax and enjoy this year and we'll come back next year and be tough and competitive.'

Grier did again Wednesday with a more definite response:

Grier "Everyone took Steve's words in the press conference out of context," Grier said. "You've been around Steve -- he's a volatile, very competitive person. We're not trying to lose games. We're going to do what's best.

"We're not trying to tank or lose every game. We're trying to build it right and see how it plays out."

Ross should give season ticket holders 50% off for a year or so......

What tanking? They have a vet QB, they have vet receivers. They need to get a PROTOTYPICAL QB, not Tua. And they need to fix the MESS THEY CREATED in the trenches and in the secondary!!! Get it fkn done in FA, and in the draft! The 5mil they incurred and dished out to Tanehill would come off their salary. Get the GROWN MEN in the trenches in FA. Get elite DBs in the draft.
And get the best D coordinator too, not first year project coaches!
Get sht done, stop fkn around. Now.
But since they are not doing it, fire them now, and get someone who get things done, right!

A monkey can do the tanking, comes cheaper than these idiots, and that's who they should hire for tanking. Go to the Miami zoo and get some monkeys to run the team. And monkey will be more loveable. They will have an excuse.
Plus, they can bring you beer.

I hear you. Knowing now the Dolphins are going full blown Cleveland Browns mode and those type bottom tier NFL teams never offered discounts in the past etc his thought process is why should he?

Ross realized too late he should have been more hands on with the team up to this point, it's overly obvious.

My personal opinion is that Ross will be slightly more active in the up and coming months/years during his final rebuild he'll be around for.

No one is saying Ross did everything right leading up to this point of his ownership pretty much the opposite, but he feels he's done a lot recently with the stadium community/charity and has acknowledged his neglect or lack there of getting this team to a higher level sooner than later.

15% discount plus perks should be offered in 2019. Who knows maybe we'll hear something.
