Dolphins Will Try To Trade Jones?

Reshad’s 2015 season was legendary. I would hate to lose him in the same year we lose Cam, but if we find someone willing to give us good value to trade him...we should pull the trigger. As others have said while he is still a Pro Bowl caliber player now, it’s unlikely he will be when we are competing for a playoff spot in 3 years.
2015 his numbers and the eye test suggested he was the most dominant S in football. Better season than Earl Thomas has (who’s numbers were closest) and everyone who was named all pro ahead of him. I think the guy can still be good 2-3 years out - would like to keep him.

I just wonder at what point does Ross get tired of paying for players that arent on the team anymore. I mean I know he's one of the richest people in the world, but I'm sure he doesnt like just throwing away millions....

Well if he was frustrated last year when he pulled that stunt, just wait till this season. He is going to look around at that defense and feel like a grandpa.

Why would he even want to be here? Only because of that contract, he has zero reason to want to stay otherwise. Its the same situation Wake was in, without the contract.

Again, Jones is very hard to move at this point. Once the season starts and injuries start to happen we might have a chance to move him to a team contending that might feel they just need a SS to get them over the top. I'd not expect much in return even if that was the case but something is better than nothing for a player that is not in the plans for the future.

Well, Ross is the one who hired Tannenbaum, and Tannenbaum is the one who gave out all of these ridiculous contracts!

Even with a trade you are on the hook for alot of 2019 money for Jones. You would save some with trade but who would want his contract. A deal would be centered around Jones restructuring I would think and why would Jones do that
From what I remember, it wouldn't be that much. I seem to recall most of the issue with his contract are guaranteed base salaries, not signing bonus money. Anyway, like you say, who would want his contract.

Jones can still be a serviceable player for a couple more years but that contract is ridiculous. His $17 million dollar salary next year is the highest of all the safeties and cornerbacks. What idiot signed him to such a contract? Oh yeah.

I think any player that is not ascending is trade bait..

I don't understand all the love for a player that quit on the team
That is the unpardonable sin in sports

Reshad Jones and a 7th round pick for Duke Johnson, who says no?
