The Latest 2-round Mock From Kiper & Mcshay

Not keen on the Gary pick, either. I think that guy's going to bust.
I like him as a player, but his tape just doesn't support his athletic combine numbers. That is always a huge red flag to me, I feel like Anthony Nelson out of Iowa could be used in a similar fashion with similar results and Nelson could be had in the 3rd or 4th round.

I'm leaning towards trying to trade back into the back half of the 1st round and pick up a center like Garrett Bradbury and than go after Ferguson in the 2nd round and then use the additional 2nd on a CB like Julian Love or Trayvon Mullen.

Getting Bradbury, Ferguson, and Love would be huge for us.

why on god's green Earth does Kiper have us taking a safety?
It feels to me like it's because of his position flexibility. Jones and Mcdonald are both strong safeties only and I have an inkling that one of them wont be here by week one. We would need 3 competent safeties and having 2 of them be able to play cornerback and safety is interesting.

That being said, I dont love the idea but I do see the appeal. Especially with how much New England loves their safeties.

Not a fan of either second round pick. Obviously I’d prefer Oliver over Gary. Gary takes heat for lack of production but I put that more on coaching.

I think worse case Gary is a much better version of William Hayes in his prime.

1. Hayes was arguably a top-5 run defending DE in his prime.

2. Hayes was selected in the 4th round when he was drafted.

3. I thought we learned with Dion Jordan to stop taking risks in the first round with athletically gifted players with mediocre college production

The draft is littered with less athletic Gary's and that is the huge concern. You don't draft players like Trey Flowers in the 1st round, if coached and developed properly properly, they can be had in the mid rounds all day long. See Anthony Nelson as an example of that this year.

Hate both of those second round picks. I wouldn't draft a QB before day three unless it's one of the top three. And we certainly don't need another CB/S tweener.

Thornhill can cover and gives you an option if your putting McDonald at LB on 3rd down or obvious passing downs. Thornhill is the type of player that Flores would make good use of, if he indeed is a player Miami selects. Nickel and Dime DB's are going to be all the rave in this new scheme and right now Miami doesn't have much back there with Thornhill's versatility other than Fitzpatrick!!

Could care less where Hayes was drafted and it’s pretty ****kng obvious I know that Hayes was a top 5 run defender. Hence the comparison. Also Dion Jordan was a drug user and that’s a ridiculous comparison.
