Trade Scenarios / Prime Trade Spots, Etc.

Given the lack of LB talent I can see a team trading up to get Devin Bush.

I could see the NYG at 17 calling for that pick at 13. If we can get a 1st in 2020, I would be ecstatic.

This makes sense with Washington looking to pick a QB. The Giants would have to jump them to get their QB?

Hey...

Dion Jordan might only cost a couple million. 6 '6 290 lbs...I'm so down on Harris that I'd give Jordan a shot at his job right now.

That is correct. I know usually teams don’t give up another first just to move up 4 spots.

However, they have to be in love with someone in order to do so. I think they still have a shot a Haskins at 13. I don’t think anyone is going to take a QB in the top 10 with this very deep and talented DL class.

So, we got a great shot in getting another 1st in 2020 if we can play our cards right in negotiating.

We can also trade down from 17 with a team like New England and get additional picks in 2020 and even 2019. At 32 we can pick up a great player who can contribute immediately. Player like Bradbury (not a sexy pick) albeit.
But helps a need long term and solid Centre.

...for me, Bradbury IS (would be) a sexy pick!

Good thread. I've been thinking the same thing. Daniel Jones or Drew Lock could be attractive to a few teams picking near the bottom of round one, maybe the LA Chargers. The Chargers pick #28 so that's a big drop. The Redskins might want to move up for Lock and that's just two spots down.

Would Miami trade all the way down to #28? The Chargers would have to give up at least their #2 rounder.

Any idea on how many non-QB trade-ups have happened in the first round in the last 10 years? Only one I remember is Marcus Davenport but .....

Dion Jordan :(

As mentioned earlier the Lions @ 8 officially turned their “Open” sign on.

If Haskins is there, I’m intrigued.

Murray dropping opens up a few things. I don't see the Cardinals rebuilding the entire offense for him when they got Rosen last year. Haskins isn't a top ten guy either. Too much quarterback hype for guys that aren't really that great this year.

Except I don't think Steve Keim (2013 Exec of the year) is all that smart. This guy has had some of the worst drafts I have ever seen since 2013. His only saving grace was getting Carson Palmer that year.

They are pretty much rebuilding the offense anyway. New HC. New offense. Didn't really have an OL last year and minimal receivers.

2013 Jonathan Cooper
2014 Deone Bucannon
2015 D.J. Humphries
2016 Robert Nkemdiche
2017 Haason Reddick
2018 Josh Rosen

He even got Bruce Arians to "retire" for one year.

Was just thinking about who would trade up or down and where they would target. Seems to me teams that cold look to trade up for a QB are.....

Raiders, Denver, Cincy, Washington and maybe even the Patriots. Most likely being Washington.

I think if the Redskins want to get a QB, they would have to jump Denver at 10 unless they want to go higher, in which case the Jets have let it be known they want to move down. The Redskins look like the only team picking behind Miami that would move up and it does little good to trade up to 13.

I don't really see many trade down scenarios for Miami unless A) a top 3 QB falls to 13 and the Redskins have not already traded up or...

B) a team like Oakland wants to use one of their lower picks at 24/27 to move up for a player.

Beyond that it would be a team who skipped a QB (ahead of us) in round 1 and wants to move back into the 1st round to get one with a lower pick.

I do think the Dolphins would trade out of the first round if they got a second day pick and a 1st next year.

Other ideas?

1 Arizona Cardinals
2 San Francisco 49ers
3 New York Jets
4 Oakland Raiders
5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6 New York Giants
7 Jacksonville Jaguars
8 Detroit Lions
9 Buffalo Bills
10 Denver Broncos
11 Cincinnati Bengals
12 Green Bay Packers
13 Miami Dolphins
14 Atlanta Falcons
15 Washington Redskins
16 Carolina Panthers
17 New York Giants from Cleveland [R1 - 1]
18 Minnesota Vikings
19 Tennessee Titans
20 Pittsburgh Steelers
21 Seattle Seahawks
22 Baltimore Ravens
23 Houston Texans
24 Oakland Raiders from Chicago [R1 - 2]
25 Philadelphia Eagles
26 Indianapolis Colts
27 Oakland Raiders from Dallas [R1 - 3]
28 Los Angeles Chargers
29 Kansas City Chiefs
30 Green Bay Packers from New Orleans [R1 - 4]
31 Los Angeles Rams
32 New England Patriots

I understand the thought behind a 2020 first round pick (trade out of first round). However; this draft is so deep with defensive talent, we could really bolster our defense with the right picks. Defense wins, we have a defensive coach, seems to me that would make a lot of sense. We can't ignore our O-Line either, seems that the Pats O-Lineman are a bunch of mid to late round picks that the system helps them excel, why can't that happen here? We do have several ex-Pats coaches, lets hope they can employ a similar system.

I agree on all points. If the New York Giants or Washington Redskins are looking to draft Jones either may be willing to trade with Miami to try and keep the other from drafting him? It could get interesting? Now if Miami does trade down with NY or Washington, New England may very well be will to trade up with Miami to get the a TE? They have some extra picks. But coming up from 32 to pick #15 or #17, I'd think would at least cost NE 2 or 3 draft choices? Perhaps a 2nd and 5th in 2019 and a 3rd/4th in 2020? Both the Giants and Washington, I'd think would have to give up at least a 4th in 2019 to get Miami's pick at #13?

Quite frankly, this is a bad draft to be QB needy.

None of these QBs are legit guaranteed stars. Each seem to need the right fit. Not saying most don't, but this group seems to have a lot of "yea but" potential.

The Giants, Raiders and Haskins are becoming the wild cards.

Haskins could possibly fall. If that happens, the entire QB board gets interesting for teams.

If the Giants (6) and Raiders (4) pass on QB, the Giants could be serious players at #17 to trade up with us to leap frog Washington to get a QB.

I just feel these QBs are going to play out differently than most expect. And I also think there will be a value spot after the 1st to grab a QB for development.
