Aaf Sack Leader Jayrone Elliot Signs With Miami

These recent additions will help to fill our team through camp. In the next 2 years we will have replaced older, overhyped, overpriced players with younger, hungrier guys each wanting to prove themselves even if its for a bigger payout.

In some ways it will be enjoyable to watch player development and root for many of these "no-names" as they fight for their NFL lives. Imagine a team of "Wake" minded players who fight through their own adversities. That can only make this team better.

This is a signing that is very reminiscent of Cameron Wake circa 2009.

I don't know that Jayrone Elliott has some great future sitting in front of him like Wake ultimately did.

I just know that pure pass rushers like him have had trouble particularly EARLY in their careers being valued for what they are. Jerry Hughes and Brandon Graham were considered to be draft busts early in their careers. Derek Wake didn't even make it to training camp with the Giants before being told to go to Canada. Even when he came back to the NFL as Cameron Wake, in 2009 he was largely underrated by everyone (including certain infamous beat writers) even as they had tape sitting right in front of them to show them how deadly he was rushing the passer. Mario Addison was underrated his entire career. Probably nobody recalls Antwan Barnes but he was a guy who was underappreciated his whole career for what he could do as a pure pass rusher.

What I'm saying is the precedent is there. If you're wondering how a guy could bounce around the NFL for five years (four with the Packers and one with the Saints), never quite get a real shot to show what he can do on high volume, then show up in a different league, be given 250-300 snaps to show what he can do, and suddenly be a promising player...the precedent is there for these sort of pass rushers to not really be well appreciated early in their careers.

I've watched a lot of him. I've watched his NFL film and his preseason film and his AAF film. In his AAF games I sense a player that's grown and has basically reached full flower. He's got a confidence and a level of dominance that I didn't really see in any other AAF player that I watched, and I watched a ton of them.

aaf is probably not much different then college competition wise

Probably a little better, considering these were guys that were deemed in college to be good enough to continue to the pros.

I didn't see any AAF teams that could beat top 5 college teams. I think AAF teams would rank somewhere in the top 25, but probably couldn't beat the elite college teams. The elite college teams are loaded with pro prospects better than the one's in the AAF.

I am talking about college as a whole, though true there are no elite players, there are far more inferior talent also in most college teams, but I do agree with you that if you took the best teams in College and in AAF, the AAF teams would probably down a bit...don't know about 25, but yes, down pretty low.

As far as this guy as a prospect like ck said the precedent is there for a Wake like development. CFL and AAF look pretty similar. All the good talent goes to the NFL

Yeah my post had nothing to do with him.

Thanks for those @nick1 very helpful! And tahnks @ckparrothead for the assessment.

Is it just me, or does he look like he has put on some extra muscle in the AAF clips?

He actually does and I meant to bring it up. A huge part of Cameron Wake's development involved his body and work ethic. I see signs in Jayrone Elliott's tape that he's improved there.

We'll see how much.
