Dolphins Will Try To Trade Jones?

You play him if your paying him like we are and when the salary runs out then let him walk. No need creating a hole when we have craters to fill on the oline and dline.

Especially when you're going to be paying for that hole.

Plus, our cap is already looking saweet next year even with Jones on the books so what's with this trade a pick to trade him nonsense? You don't gift picks like that.

Now, paying for a pick similarly to the Tannehil trade- I'm with that.

I forgive him for the tantrum just like I forgive all under the Burke umbrella.

Jones can still be a beast here if he comes back/remains healthy and it'll be interesting to see how all DBs will be used in the new system.

what has Miami got for that big extension value wise ? Does not matter now a guy with two bum shoulders who will be making 17 million this year will soon be gone.

He’s been asked to do something since the McDonald signing, that is against his strengths. He’s just been okay, I’m not sitting here defending his contract. But the way the last coaching staff used him was atrocious.

Jones ain't the same player. Declining a bit

That's true, and that contract extension was ludicrous.

It is also true, that he was never a top notch cover guy, and Burke didn't play him to his strengths.

If his team mates gave him a pass for quitting, I can do the same.

Right on bro. Plus we won without him. Be really nice to get a 2nd but more like a 4th. I'm dreaming on a 2nd rounder.

Think I said before -- IMO the big question with Jones is his shoulders.

Bottom line -- his physical soundness has to be at least somewhat of a concern

at this point... If the dude is rock solid -- I see no additional evidence his game is in decline.

Of course the other big question is what Flores sees in him and if he fits into the new program.

I'm totally unsure on that. But I don't think Jones is the type of S Flores would target.

Too limited in coverage and more of a head banger vs. cerebral.

But hey -- I reserve the right to be wrong.

Reashad Jones is A LOT better than TJ in the box AND in coverage. He is top 3 in the league as a box safety. He is also the highest paid so what do the coaches do? Put him in coverage and then take him off the field and leave TJ in the game? How does this make sense? Burke was masquerading as a DC. No wonder Jones got mad. You play you're best players.

Jones played 76% of the snaps, TJ played 88%. TJ actually played a higher % of the snaps than Fitzpatrick by a small margin. Only Kiko played more than TJ and he was a complete liability in coverage.

All very fair points. More than fair actually. However, I think Jones has regressed as a player - and yes injuries are a big part of it - and his salary is way off what he should be paid at that position. They will have to eat a lot of salary to trade him for anything meaningful.

We've had so few actual playmakers on D over the last decade. Jones is one. I hate that he quit on the team last year...though Id consider early retirement with Burke as my D coach. He may be in decline, but he can still bring value if used properly and his shoulders hold up. As long as he is not a negative in the locker room, Id keep him and use him as a box SS and blitzer.

But how would you evaluate that theory considering he was out of position most of the year?
