The kind that led his team to a bunch of wins in 2016, then went thru the following spring and summer camps as the starter, was voted team captain by his teammates, told days later by the coaching staff that he would not be the starter for his senior season, and instead of throwing a fit or trying to transfer and all that, he did the best he could to help the team and the new starter however he could, and won games when he was called on due to injury. Everyone around that program speaks glowingly about his maturity and team first character.

After all that, he didn't try to transfer???

Oh...he's a dummy. Sounds like he'll work for minimum wage in '80 and be ashamed he pit the team in a bad spot for negotiating for that much.
 
As a lifelong Utahn/Ute Fan/Dolphin Fan, I’ll give you guys the rundown in Troy Williams the best I can:

-Top rated QB recruit who started his career at Washington. Had some success but eventually lost the job to future 4 year starter Jake Browning and this, transferred to Utah.

-When looking at his career while at Utah, you have one major factor to consider: Utah’s HC Kyle Whittingham is a legend in Utah for his tough, hard-hitting, Defensive minded teams. Whittingham is all about playing stout D, running the ball, and minimizing mistakes on offense. While he is a local legend, he has historically struggled to find/keep an OC that can lead the offense to huge numbers. Probably the biggest reason for lower than average offensive numbers is the fact that he keeps his thumb on all of his OC’s and refuses to air it out in an effort to win each game by winning with low turnovers and outstanding defense.

- Troy Williams is a nice dual skilled QB that can extend plays by escaping when the pocket breaks down but I would not consider him a running QB by any stretch of the imagination. He’s always got his eyes downfield and would much rather make a play with his arm as opposed to his legs. He ultimately lost his starting job to Tyler Huntley (still Utah’s starting QB) because Huntley has a stronger arm and is much more explosive making plays with his feet.

-Williams’ accuracy is solid in the short-to-intermediate passing game. His hit and miss ability in the deep passing game is what cost him his job, but IMO the skill set is there to be improved upon with the right coaching and surrounding WR talent.

-Was named a captain heading into his senior season and despite losing his starting job, continued to be in the film room longer than any other QB on the roster and was always the last one to leave the field getting in extra throws after practice. It should also be noted that he started some games during his senior season due to injury and played well when called upon.

-As somebody who watched him in college, I’m rooting HARD for Miami to sign him. He may end up being nothing more than a camp body but his leadership skills are beyond questioning. The guy is a born leader and he doesn’t just talk the talk. He walks the walk making sure nobody outworks him. If he gets a shot at an NFL roster spot, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sticks even if it’s as a solid back-up or 3rd QB on a practice squad. In all seriousness, I honestly believe that his preparation is damn near Peyton Manning level, it’s just that his size and skill set aren’t at that level.

To what do you attribute his sub 55% completion rate? That's one thing that stood out to me when looking in to this guy.
 


Ball comes out quickly. 3 or 4 steps and ball is out. Doesn't seem scared to throw into tight spaces. Heck of a runner with those juke moves. That's what I see from the clip.

We went to a UCLA-Utah game this year as our daughter goes to UCLA. The Utes current QB stood out athletically - after a slow start, he took over the game. That’s all I’ve got.
 
Again, the idea of Troy Williams in a Dolphins uniform is less interesting to me than what it might mean that the Dolphins have gravitated toward him as one of their QB options.

They want boy scouts at the position.
 
If we do select this guy, we best take advantage of his legs - lots of read option calls.
 
Again there's no selecting Troy Williams. He's not a draft prospect. He can sign right now if you offered him.
 
Im going to have to pass on signing a Qb nobody has heard of and is out of football.
two bad omens.
 
Dual threat usually means a running QB with an average arm.
Short term solution.
