Miami Still Has Endless Options To Upgrade The Offensive Line

hell it was shown that the OL was told to use different techniques each week, proper coaching will help a lot, hopefully get something out of guys we haven't seen anything out of yet,

The OL was certainly part of what made Tannehill one of the most sacked QB’s during his career and lead to his knee injury during the best season of his career, ultimately forcing the team to move on from him. You can’t acknowledge the horrific OL play Miami has had and then just completely discount it as a factor in the QB’s lack of success, no matter how much you disliked him.

It’s OK, though, if the front office doesn’t shore up the OL properly for the new QB, you will get to see the same scenario over again as proof, and it won’t matter if the QB is named Tua, Rosen or Lock. Fail on the LOS=Fail on the season.

Exactly, and as bad as it sounds, a part of me hopes they don't fix the line and draft a Tua type just to prove the point, albeit only a small part of me hopes that as a fan. If the Oline does not get fixed, then will they blame the Qb or the line?

Defensive players are drafted and paid to pressure QBs.
Every QB faces pressure MOST of the time.
RT had his shot. He’s similar to David Carr and Rob Johnson. No pocket awareness and takes too many unnecessary sacks

What point?

That a rookie can't prosper behind a suspect oline?

We had a QB for 7 years that proved that yo be the case.

Are you a Dolphins fan, or a Tannehill fans...you sound clearly the latter.

I agree. I think a lot of our problems were from coaching and/or schemes.
The O-line looked unprepared MANY times. It looked as if they didn't know what to do, as in, WHO to block.
Also, the RBs can't be held harmless in the lack of protection either. It also looked like THEY didn't know who to block.
Was it overall scheme? Was it T-hill calling the WRONG protections at the line? Was it players not executing properly? Who knows, but it was on the coaches to fix the problem, and they didn't do it.

I've long said one of Tannehill's biggest flaws was reading Ds and setting protections. That said, EVERY Miami QB suffered from seemingly inept blocking schemes, so I can't blame Tannehill exclusively. Even simple stunts were beyond their capabilities. I think it was overwhelmingly a coaching problem.

OL play is all about effort, Jesse Davis as big as he is got whipped constantly, Larsen did too, everybody that comes to Miami from other teams plays like crap, we need nasty SOB's in the trenches, They cost Tannehill his career, they give the team a rebate.

Effort? While i won't argue that sometimes it does feel that way I would argue it's more coaching. How many times have you watched the OL and said lack of effort vs. that OLman had no idea who to block on that stunt? How many times have you said "sink your damn hips before you get ran over?" etc

Hello, my name is Ryan Tannehill
fl-sp-dolphins-ryan-tannehill-patriots-20181209

I don't play for the Miami Dolphins anymore.
Y'all can feel free to talk about something else now.

Do you read? The point is exactly that! NO QB especially a rookie CANNOT prosper behind poor Oline play and lousy coaching! Are you a Dolphins fan or an Oline excuse maker? Sounds like the latter.

Jesse Davis is a natural Right Tackle. Thats his position, maybe he struggled at RG because of that. Give him a chance at RT in pre-season. The backup, Sam, is a decent RT too though he was terrible at LT
We'll have to see about that. I think he's gonna be a LO, Left Out...

So David Carr had a decent to good Oline? Again it goes to my POINT. If the OLine does not get fixed and they draft the supposed saviour\Eliet QB and he takes sacks or gets hurt and the Offense does not perform who gets the blame this time?

Will you blame the Oline or the QB since it is not Thill?

The entire offense was near the bottom of the NFL so blame everyone associated with it from the owner on down. It damn sure isn't all Tannehills fault because the whole thing was a failure of epic proportions. But, Tannehill's flaws never improved in time as they do with all other QB's I've ever seen. The injuries made him a different player imo. He never hit his 2016 stride ever again. He's a quality guy and was a good soldier for the Dolphin's so I wish him luck going forward. So we have Fitz, that's cool but we need to get a QB on a rookie contract who can play. I think we'll draft one in this draft. It would be great if we could snag and develop a guy that works out in our system ala Brady. There are some QBs that we will be able to draft that I like but I guess it remains to be seen who Grier and Coach Flo like.

I will clear up this debate once and for all...
our oline sucked and so did Tanehill.

Cant make a good anything out of 2 sucks... In football at least.
