The Miami Dolphins invested highly in linebacker Raekwon McMillan two years ago this month. And while McMillan’s career hasn’t gathered the momentum all parties involved would obviously have preferred, things are trending in the right direction.

Should be one of the 6th or 7th most important pieces moving forward for this franchise.

We should start to see the real Raekwon in 2019. Healthy and suddenly a vet/leader on defense, which is the role he's designed for.

Time for several players to shine, not just RM. Harris getting more that one or two sacks would be nice. Gesicki not getting pushed around by a small DB would be nice too. Lots of opportunities to go around.

Exactly, I hate these expectations for players to go from mediocre to pro-bowl that next season. Also, I think all of people don't get how much needs to happen to go from just mediocre to decent-good.

For too many it's All Pro or they're a bust. You know, like all other teams
There's also too many that want to give players 37 chances to "get it"

Coin has two sides.

I'd love to see the light come on for him this year. Of course, I'd have loved for it to happen last year too.

Agree, but I was responding to " I hate these expectations for players to go from mediocre to pro-bowl that next season"

I don't like 'no improvement,' but some expect too much - particularly from 2nd year players and rookies

We've definitely have bad luck on early round picks where they turn into projects....like every freaking year. The amount of players is staggering.

Deon Jordon, Egnew, Charles Harris, Raekwon McMillan, Mike Gesicki, Leonte Carroo, Devonte Parker, JaWuan James, Billy Turner,Dallas Thomas, Johnathan Martin.

Lets hope we can turn that corner fast.

I really think this guy is way too over rated on this board... Jerome Baker too. But Reakwon seems worse than Baker.

Hopefully I am wrong but McMillan seems like this year's Devon Gaudchaux. A bunch of underserved hype.

Hopefully I am wrong but this guy is on my **** list... As far a his ability to play football goes. And if they are going to depend on him moving forward, I hope I am wrong.

The real trick this year will be to see how these players perform when there is less talent around them. How McMillan perform's is very contingent on the defensive line, the scheme and as well as the coaching staff. This really applies to all our guys.

2nd year player coming off injury and being thrusted into yet another defensive scheme.

He's not "coming off an injury" at this point. I expect it has healed as much as it is ever going to, after 20 months.

That said, it was the mental part, as well as the physical, where he progressed in the second half of last year. I expect that to continue.

As far as it being a new scheme?

There is no way i can spin that as a bad thing. Burke was so horrible, that I expect it had a detrimental effect on all of our defensive players.
