It would be nice to have full participation.

While the majority of the NFL is just getting their feet wet with off-season workouts this week, the Miami Dolphins are one of the select few teams that get to blaze ahead with more advanced coaching and workouts. It’s a bittersweet opportunity — teams on the accelerated timeline are the same ones that have had coaching changes this offseason.

Hopefully Ryan Fitzpatrick is there working off that gut feeling some people were talking about on this site.

So Reshad Jones decides to skip mini camp and train elsewhere. I’m tired of this quitter, bite the bullet and trade his ***.

Also, from the article you posted:
Flores said there are several factors why Jones is not here, and rehabbing his shoulder (which needed surgery in February) is one of them. Flores added that Jones has been in all of the meetings, but it is telling that either the player or team (or both) thought it prudent not to put him on the practice field.

This is where we start to see if any of the injured players are able to participate and have made reasonable recoveries. In particular, I want to see if the WR corps is healthy and able to participate in drills. If Grant and Wilson are behind on their rehab, it could alter the draft plans. Both of those injuries are significant and it may be difficult to regain their prior performance from either of them.

I am also interested to see how quickly the young players pick up on the new regime's playbook and routines. Hopefully they are able to set the tone for the draft and then training camp.

Albert Wilson WR, Miami Dolphins

Albert Wilson (hip) remained sidelined at the start of the Dolphins' offseason program.
Wilson landed on injured reserve with a hip injury last October. The injury did not require surgery and his recovery has been setback-free, but Wilson is not quite ready to go. Perhaps that changes before OTAs open next month, but at worst Wilson should be ready for training camp. Fellow WR Jakeem Grant (lower leg) also remains out.

  • Reshad Jones DB, Miami Dolphins

Dolphins S Reshad Jones (shoulder) is skipping voluntary workouts.
Jones was reportedly present when the Dolphins started their offseason program a couple of weeks ago, but coach Brian Flores said he is skipping this session. "He made a decision to train somewhere else," Flores said. "He and I have obviously communicated about it." The new coach said the absence did not have anything to do with trade rumors, but it is tough to believe Jones' roster status played zero part in the decision. The Dolphins can save $5.025 million against the cap by trading Jones. It would also Minkah Fitzpatrick to play safety full time.

I think the right approach for a coach is to have very strict voluntary offseason rules, players are getting paid a full time salary, the least they can do is show up and be with their team for three friggin days..Knowledge is power, makes them a better team if they individually don’t miss..

Unless the excuse is legit I would get rid of any players who just thought they would workout away from their team..

Jmo, I hope it’s Flores as well.

Eh, if my team was actively looking to trade me, I wouldn't be so eager to show up to a voluntary camp either. It's also not that uncommon for vets to train elsewhere, Suh did it but would always eventually show up.

Thanks for the updates on Grant and Wilson. I was hopeful they would at least be running at camp so there would be some kind of report about their progress. I want to believe that no news is good news but as tight-lipped as the team has been it is hard telling what is really going on behind the curtain.

That's ridiculous tbh, it's what 6 months since he picked up the injury and despite not needing surgery he's still not fit enough to practice. We've either not learned from Tannehill's injury that getting something fixed straight away is always the best solution or whoever is responsible for his rehab needs to be fired, that's simply not good enough.
