Dolphins Leadership And Xavien Howard Continue Courtship In Good Faith

I don't have a problem with a player wanting to get paid and i applaud X's camp for how they're handling things. He's showing up to work like he's expected to and doing his job.

If a player that's still under contract, demand I pay them more and then sat out etc. I promise you that player will be sitting out for a very long time.

And you would be the worst owner in the league field a terrible team.

Oh the outrage.

I demanded more money at my place of work and got it. I exceed my initial salary and deserved more money for what I brought to the table, it worked, now I'm in the process of probably demanding more or leaving. Howard deserves money, he's getting paid peanuts compared to his equals at that respective position, if I was him I'd never touch the field again for Miami until they paid me. If they don't, someone will.

Lol, no one tries that crap with the Patriots. Only sucker teams like the Dolphins get treatment like that from players. Look how the Steelers treated Bell.

Rob Gronkowski did.

Logan Mankins did.

Richard Seymour did

Outside of Brady their 3 best players of the past 20 years. Their All Pro players, which Howard is. New England hasn't had an All Pro that they drafted since Gronk. He held out.

Steelers are a dumpster fire, with a aging overrated qb, they treated Bell wrongly and now he's a rich man playing in New York with less tear on his body.

Seriously. Don't these assholes know they're here to entertain me?! I mean, do they really think that just because they worked their asses off far harder than most of us ever have to get where they are entitles them to the most compensation they can get?! They're lucky they're compensated at all for their hard work.
Wait, I've never said they should try to get as much as they can get. You're trying to give him credit for showing up even tho he's under contract. If he was a free agent he wouldn't be allowed to be there. I have no problem if he wants an extension either. All I'm saying is why are you trying to give him credit for doing what he's supposed to do?

As far as working his ass off........tons and tons of people work their ass off every day to try to get better. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to play professional sports. I'm glad for him and all the others but just the fact they're football players doesn't mean they work harder than everyone else that isn't a football player.

Curious? Has "X" the employee in this case worked "through" his contract? Does he still have time on it? If so, then how has he met his contractual obligation?

He doesn’t have to play through it. He can sit if he wants. He won’t get paid, just like any other holdout, and the team can opt to release him if they want. This isn’t difficult to understand. This isn’t a military contract. If these contracts were as binding as you think they are, teams would have to keep players throughout their contract. No doubt you are equally offended by teams not honoring their ends of the contracts when they release players.

The mythology around the Pats is so weird.

As far as working his *** off........tons and tons of people work their *** off every day to try to get better. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to play professional sports. Absolutely giving him credit for attending voluntary workouts at the risk of injury.

Maybe you should have put more effort in if you wanted to play professional sports.

Its amazing to me how some of us on here think. I just dont understand why some of you are so against resigning him. This guy is someone we drafted, is obviously a great young talent on a team lacking talent in so many positions. We all know how this team has squandered picks in the past, and yet some on here want to trade a known quantity for picks that history has shown that we are more likely to draft a scrub rather than a playmaker

They work their asses off? You mean working out at the gym and track and practicing the game? For full time million dollar salary?

I understand that he should get paid, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting the contract extension, but I don’t feel sorry for them because there is a three day walk through at the facility after a four month layoff from their job..

I don’t call it work...

Yes...he should have worked harder to become a professional athlete....he also better make sure he:

Wasn't born a girl.
Wasn't born under 5'9. (average US male 5'8)
Wasn't born with any thing even remotely wrong physically. Asthma or a lack of hand eye coordination? Blind? Deaf? Clearly those are myths. Just work harder.
Wasn't born to bad parents who can't afford/wont put in the effort needed to train a pro athlete....

Should I go on? Because you get to pick these things right? I agree with a lot of your points but you're putting these guys on a bit too high of a pedastal

There are female athletes. Jakeem Grant is 5'7". John Brown has sickle cell. Cutler has type 1 diabetes. Jerome Bettis has asthma. Wilma Rudolph survived polio. Venus Williams has Sjogren's syndrome. Eric Berry survived Hodgkin's lymphoma. Jim Kyte and Matt Hamill are deaf. A large portion of professional athletes come from poverty.

Then there's the people without any of those issues. They have the height. They have the supportive family. Yet only a small few earn their way into professional sports. Do you think it's just luck? Do they just come out of the womb capable of playing football or any other professional sport at an elite level?

I'm not putting these guys on a pedestal at all. I respect the work they put into get where they are, unlike you and others who think they owe something to the team. Like it's some kind of privilege. Like I said, they're nothing more than chattel to some of y'all.
