2019 Nfl Draft - Slimm's Top 150

Interested in hearing where you think position wise ford, risner, and Jonah Williams project best as pros.

Honestly I think it just depends on the system and what you're asking of 'em.

In general I think they'd all be better off inside somewhere. At least early in their careers to highlight their strengths and allow them some time to work on their flaws. Ford and Risner started their careers inside and RG and Center and both looked good. There's some limitations for all of 'em at tackle.

Big if true. Will be some nice values at WR.

I don't understand these NFL scouts.

I love D.K. Metcalf, I have no issue with him as the top WR. But his neck concerns me. Hopefully they have solid medical information that bodes well for his neck.

I like to ask myself the question - how would I defend this guy when I evaluate players. I don't really know how you defend Metcalf and rely on it to work. I know exactly how I'd defend Marquis Brown, and it's not how Big-12 defenses try to do it. Just give me a cornerback that can run and tackle.

I'd like to ask these scouts and executives how they plan on defending Deebo Samuel.

That's a good point you're making. How will you defense these guys. Of course you also need to ask, how would they fit in our team?

I like your comments on Jeffrey Simmons. I have strong conviction on him as our optimal path. Sounds like we can trade down and still get him from mocks but if we sit at 13 and take him so be it. My second choice on a trade down would be Dexter Lawrence.

ACL tear and missing the first half of the year and not being 100% until sometime late in 2020 if he ever is the same player again scares me, having to deal with every beat writer bringing up the story of him slapping some girl around also a negitive...I realize he has elite talent but he definitely not the player for us at 13 and may need to fall to us in the 2nd, or at least fall to the bottom of the 1st. I'm all for a second chance just a second chance in the 2nd round.

RB Damien Harris, Alabama (#97) I seen him on some boards as the second back coming off the board, if we could snag him in the bottom of the 3rd or early 4th after we have made some trades do you think he could take Gore's spot, up the middle runner and is that something you see as a priority for Miami this year?

Well said, Slimm. I also try to view range of possibilities, which is obv an inexact exercise. For Metcalf, for example, he has a chance to be an Andre Johson/Josh Gordon type of playmaker, but even if he fails to reach his ceiling, you're getting a ridiculous deep threat. If he can stay healthy, he won't be a complete bust. Hollywood, on the other hand, could be a Desean Jackson, but he could also be one of countless tiny receivers to never make any type of significant contribution in the NFL.

Especially at the WR position, where misses are very common, I think it's crucial to view roles, ranges, and how D's will/can match up. It's a weird position, because it's heavily dependent on situation but still requires high-end skill. A lot has to go right.

Honestly I have no idea.

Maybe trade down to the sweet spot for these really good offensive lineman and try to load up on some while acquiring a surplus of picks. It would certainly be a scenario I would consider. If the price is right and the guys I really want are already gone, it's probably the best thing a team in Miami's position can do.

If Miami can trade down 5-10 Spots for a Simmons or McCoy/ Risner type and acquire an additional 2nd Rd pick, they will have won the early part of this draft.
Winning football games begins by winning on draft day.

I’d love for the team to trade down and acquire extra picks and pick up a legit O lineman. That’d be the most ideal thing this team could do instead of reaching for a player.

I like Harris as well. Slimm, are you down on him?

He's alright, but nothing special. Gets tackled and goes down too easily.

He's a great kid off the field - high character and represented the University and himself well. He'll do the same for the organization he ends up playing for.

Harris never really improved from his freshman year. He's just one of these kids that peak early. The coaching staff have had to turn to better backs in big games almost every time to get something going. Usually Josh Jacobs. But even true freshman Najee Harris against UGA in the national championship game. Harris just never really improved. He's prone to lulls where he just doesn't do much. Should be a decent pro because he can pass protect and catch the football.

Nick Allegretti with the 42 wonderlic. That's the highest I've heard of for this year. Ryan Finley got that score but he did it on a re-test, only got a 28 on his first go.
