I disagree with the sweat lacks play strength. He was 245 at the senior bowl even and did just fine at the poa. At 260 and still that explosive I mean what?

Oliver ideal 3 tech does Miami place enough value in that schematically? I think a lot of what he gives you Vincent Taylor does just Oliver in a more twitchy explosive package. If he develops his hand use whoof. Filthy stop start and redirect.

I like that they are putting these kids thru the ringer for their smarts. Have to be assignment sound. Way too much blown assignments in Miami the last few years. Playing dumb football.

Wonder how rashan Gary did in interviews. I’m sticking with that’s the guy Miami picks at 13. Unless they think he’s not smart enough. Or Miami green lights sweat and he comes to us. A little bit of stiffness and legginess to him but can flatten to the qb and covers ground in a hurry with that stride

I hate the fact Barry says were ‘basically set at LB’ - I get we have numbers there but boy would I hate passing up yet again on a blue chip LB.

Why cause a Kiko??? No.

I think they will add a rush lb or two even. don’t have one and need one.

He questions Burns' ability against the run but the reports I read talk about how well he can set the edge and counter blocks. If he truly can play DE and LB it seems like that is exactly what the Dolphins need

Yup

if we are doing anything but taking a QB we should move back. the options at 23 are not drastically different from 13. Dexter Lawrence would make perfect sense though at any spot.

Dexter Lawrence would be an ideal fit as your NT and DT combo player in the middle of the defense. All of those Clemson defenders are potential Dolphins targets, due to Marion Hobby being Miami's Defensive Line Coach. Hobby may be able to get Dexter playing like he played his freshman and sophomore years. If that happens look out NFL.

but I think there in lies the possible problem, why should another team be compelled to give up assets to move to 13?

I would HATE to pass on Devin White if he is there just 'because Kiko'

Essentially what Csonked said. The teams picking in the middle to back end (specifically Houston, Indy) do not have too many essential needs, and have extra picks to work with. If they value a player higher (maybe Indy with Christian Wilkins for example) they may trade up in front of a team like Atlanta to get him.

The teams starting at 16 with Carolina could begin an interior offensive lineman run at 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25 all considering the position. I could definitely see a team like Houston moving up for Cody Ford or Jonah Williams.

I follow, that is kinda why I said "possible" problem- it's what I said in another thread - that it has to probably be someone they really want or they may figure they can wait or take their next highest rated player- I guess that's why we watch and what makes it interesting...

I love the trade back ideas, I also think its gonna be hard to screw up the pick at 13, if we indeed make the pick. This draft really has some incredible defensive players. Either of the Devon's: White or Bush would be instant starters. I just feel like they will address the pass rush with this pick if we stay at 13. Ed Oliver, Clelin Ferrell, Rashan Gary, Bryan Burns, if I had to put money on it, one of these guys will be the pick. I am not so high on Sweat, but I could see that too, just would worry me a bit.
