Just A Thought About Tanking

But winning 2 games instead of 5 is not trading your first born. That's what the entire argument is. We're ALREADY going to be bad, so why not just go all the way?

I've still never heard a single person talk about how much fun they had during the 2011 season when Matt Moore came in and eventually won 6 meaningless games after we were already 0-7. Not a single one. NOBODY talks about that season, but hooray, those wins got us Tannehill instead of Luck and ruined the next 7 years of our franchise. While Luck may not be Tom Brady, he's good enough to have not worried about QB since 2011.
I ALWAYS have fun watching the Miami Dolphins win.

I’m sorry you don’t.

I can't imagine spending a Sunday rooting against my team. How?
Because the goal is to win a Super Bowl, not win a game. I'm not sure how this is so hard to understand. If you want to just cheer blindly in a vacuum every Sunday to win even when it is going to bring you more misery later, then have at it.

I'm not as shortsighted. I'd prefer to get to a point where I'm cheering in a Championship game and if it takes some losses in the interim, I'll gladly endure them. Sucks, but it is what it is.

I get your point, but I suspect every year every QB taken in the 1st 3 picks is thought to be "close to Luck's level as a prospect." We know how that has worked out. I don't know your opinion, but if Miami were to "draft a QB" thought to be "close to Luck's level as a prospect," how many here would accept that choice? I can assure you, there would be many posts claiming Miami picked the wrong guy and NOT be satisfied with "how our coaching staff ultimately feels about the player." That's the nature of fandom. I kinda agree with you on this year's QB prospects, but I wouldn't be surprised with a day 2 QB. You know, let him sit behind RF for a year and let him watch.

Very few QBs will be at that level and I’m not saying you never draft a QB with a high pick who isn’t can’t miss. What I’m saying is this is not the year to take that chance, and certainly not to trade up.

So again, unless there is someone the FO is really ecstatic about, this is the year to rebuild the infrastructure for the QB we get next year.

No matter what I will be wanting and rooting to win. If and/or when we are mathematically eliminated then I don't want to win another game.

We definitely should’ve lost to the New England and really if Charles Clay doesn’t drop a wide open TD pass we lose that game too. That means we’re 5-11 and we’d be picking 5th!

And in every year Miami (and others) lose 3-5 close games. I get your point, but disagree with the spin. I can also say, with an above average HC, Miami would have won those games without need of a fluke play. And that's WITH Gase, Philbin, Lazor, Tannehill, Parker, Branch, Turner, and a host of others. It is what it is. Reliving it helps nothing.

In the end, the only rational for tanking is that the pro tank lemmings would rather win the draft then a football game. That's all it adds up to. It's even more curious that the lemmings who feel we are tanking will complain bitterly about our not drafting their favorites.

:dead:

Yeah, man. We've won so many games over the last 15+ years. Our strategy has been working out great!

Or... you know... we haven't won the draft OR football games, so the pro tank "lemmings" would prefer to try starting with the former which might actually lead to the latter. Crazy, I know.

Intentionally being worse in order to get better doesn't make any sense at all.

Why doesn't it? It's not like we're going from an 11 win team to a 2 win team in our tanking attempt, which obviously wouldn't make sense, but I'm not quite sure how going from a 3-4 win team (which we are even without trying to "tank") to a 1-2 win team doesn't make sense.

In a tanking world, Drake would have fallen down at the 30 and I wouldn't have almost had a heart attack. And we'd be picking possibly as high as 8. Eff that world.
