'19 Season A Tank (not So Fast)

Not really seeing where people think Fitzpatrick is this better than average QB. He's not, he's a mediocre QB and always will be. Why people think he'll be an improvement over Tannehill is beyond me.

I kinda agree with OP. Now, I'm hoping for a "tank", but how far worse are we really. Hell we went 2-3 with Osweiller last year. Is the drop off from Tannehill to Fitz really that big? Our DL and OL were horrible last year, can we get much worse? I believe coaching will be better and I have no faith the the Phins can pull off a "tank".

Won’t matter if they get their QB this year

So you think they could get a better QB prospect this year where they are drafting compared to next year if they have a top pick? Ya and I got a bridge to sell you.

I believe we'll be like the tanking Jets a couple of years ago - bad - but not as bad as people think. The Oline on paper should be below average, no way we can stay competitive with that bunch.

If the pass-rusher we draft gets 10 sacks, the RT we draft starts on day 1 because he's actually good enough and not just because we dont have one, the Guard we draft starts by week 4 or so, and Tankersley rebounds...
Oh... and Gesicki, Ballage, and Drake step up...
Oh... and no injuries...

We might hit 8-8.

I dont see it.. I just dont.

Could it happen? Sure.

An 8-8 season would be the worst thing that can happen to this team. That would put them in no man's land as usual. They really need a 2-14 season to get the QB they want in the 2020 draft and build off of that.
I totally agree. I want playoffs or 1-2 wins. However, after looking at last years team and that this years team could look like, wouldn't surprise me?

Too many holes at critical areas, mainly the offensive and defensive lines.

Also, you have to factor in other teams getting better. Darnold and Allen should both be better year two for the Jets and Bill's respectively.

Coaching is one area where Miami figures to be stronger and that could be huge.
To many holes, agreed. But, who was in those spots last year with a 8-8 record? Problem is, the replacements should be just as productive as any from last year!

Gone are the starting QB, both starting DE's and leading sack.........leading RB and leading WR

How can this team be the same as last year?

btw, Wilson and Grant coming back from surgery too.
Production from any of those players can be duplicated with average players and above average coaching.

Just have to stick up for my boy and one of the all time dolphins great Cameron Wake for a second. When you say his performance is easy to replace are you going by his stats or did you actually watch him? I actually like watching defense more than offense which has been frustrating the last few years however Wake was usually the one I watched the most. He certainly lost a step after the Achilles however he was still dominate last year. Constantly in the backfield putting pressure just that step cost him the sack. He still graded out as the 15th best end last year and that’s including his run defense which isn’t the greatest. If anyone has pff insider and can check pass rushing efficiency I’d bet he’s in the top 5 last year. If whoever we draft is half as productive as Wake was last year, I’ll be happy, just hope he can improve to 75% after a couple years.
Strictly by the stats = Wake the person can not be replaced, period, at this stage of his career, his production can though. I've always been a Wake fan and hope the best for him. A 28 year old Wake = irreplaceable, 35 = not so much.

Tanking for who? This team needs to win as many games as possible, fans don't want to pay big ticket prices for under performing on the field, build your team from a winning foundation if you do that draft will become easier, this board has allowed a culture of losing seep into it's thinking, if tanking is the fix all then why didn't they before now, and please stop using Cleveland as your model of reference, that team has been messed up for years and has been picking inside the top 10 for at least the last 10 years. I as a fan wouldn't attend one game if I get the since that this team is tanking, hell all we know that the QB they want might have some type of injury, what would they do then?

I do not believe they are going to be able to pressure the QB.

I do not believe they are going to be able to stop the run.

I believe that they are going to have extremely inconsistent QB play.

Ergo...I think they are going to be pretty bad. Call it what you will.

Because blind hate is the same as blind loyalty. Neither will allow themselves to see.

All things we could not do last year????? Same as this year, however; coaching alone can improve players/team, etc. So that is why I wonder what will be the difference from last season. All those attributes we couldn't do last season, it probably won't be any worse this season, thus similar record/results?
