*** Official Nfl Draft Discussion Thread *** Round One

Jeffery Simmons DL, College Player

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have had "serious talks" about drafting Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons.
Any move would apparently not come at No. 13 but a trade down. There have been multiple Thursday reports about the Dolphins' interest in moving down. Simmons, who is recovering from a torn ACL and torn meniscus, is likely to miss the entire 2019 season. He also has a disturbing incident of violence against a woman in his past. It would not be surprising were Simmons to fall to day two.

Now this i can absolutely buy. A trade out and turning in this card. And if we do it don’t anyone try and tell me that the tank isn’t on lol despite sorry ass Fitzpatrick here

How mucb bigger an indicator do you need than a guy that won’t play for you in 2019 lol

I really don’t want to lose james and then promptly pick a freaking right tackle at 13.

Talk about a buzz kill

It's not sexy, but if they think an all pro is there it's not a bad pick. James was always good but he was never dominant. If we have the ability to get two young all pro bookend tackles that's not a bad idea.

if we do trade back and end up with Simmons that would be a good way to start the draft.

what scares me about Simmons is each time we get a guy that's been hurt before it never works out for us.
Hayes
Sitton
Parker
the list goes on and on

Well if they take Simmons at 13 the white flags completely out.

Now that I think about it that may be the best I’m not tanking but i am tanking move they could make tonight. Short of trading out and still getting him. Which would be ideal if in fact all our eggs are in the 2020 qb class.

Not to mention all their personnel moves this offseason have said we aren’t playing for 2019. The de handling of at the time existing personnel a pretty good indicator.

I tell you what is sexy, that blue dress that lady is wearing doing interviews with Michael Irvin on the red carpet.... :)

To your point though, coming into this whole process I was very much against drafting a OL guy at 13, but I've come around to seeing the appeal of taking any of one of Williams, Taylor, Bradbury, Dillard or Risner, ideally with a trade back. But if we are targeting Tua then we need to be looking at a stud like Taylor or Williams to plug in at RT. Although I'm still very high on Edoga out of USC whom we should be able to take in the 2nd.

BTW gotta love Drew Lock's (who has just been interviewed on the red carpet) personality, he ticks all the boxes from a character perspective. I would still be super happy if he was a Miami Dolphin tonight.

Here’s my final 5 for tbe Miami pick as in who I think it will be. No real order due to the medical stuff.

This is trade down stay at 13 or trade up. Gary, Haskins, Wilkins, Simmons, sweat.

Ed Oliver the trumps all card.

If I was given one more name it would be Ferrell.

Murrays pink suit is hideous. I would pass on him for that decision alone. lol

Apparently Nick Bosa, was told he's going to be the #1 pick? I don't have the link, I just read it on my news app, Smartnews.com via 12UP.com!!! Take it with a grain of salt.

LOL Kyler Murray's suit :) The guy on NFL network described him as "coming dressed as a bottle of pepto bismal" :)

don't know if you noticed but 3 of those 5 have medical issues

I don't give a **** how good a player was, how crappy your team is, you should never blow your 1st round pick on a guy who will miss the entire season unless in the rare case, he is a can't miss QB. That's it.
