Pft - Miami Close To A Deal For Josh Rosen (merged)

Why not do both?

Because the Dolphins are in a position where they can't afford to trade away valuable draft picks for players who might not be the long term answer. They need all the draft picks they can get and hit on most of them if they wan't to rebuild the right way.

AZ can't keep him.. I would let them sweat it out until we're on the clock and say we about to submit our pick once we do the rest of our board is set. We'll give you a 4th with a conditional 5th next year. You have 30 seconds to comply.

Belichick is a douchebag, Big Ben is a big douchebag, Rivers is a douchebag. Ty Cobb was a douchebag,

Anyone passing on them?

Unfair to Ty Cobb. Baseball historians have done enough digging on that one to have figured out that Cobb pretty badly slandered by a handful of his contemporaries because of some bad blood. Obviously the guy is long dead -- and so is everyone who played with him -- but it's pretty clear by this point that his reputation was unfairly maligned to some degree.

So if I take out Ty Cobb and substitute Bart Scott and Ray Lewis as additional douchebags, would that be okay with you?

Yeah, I was going to do an "akshually" reply on Ty Cobb. Pretty much everything we think we know about him today was based on the word of a hack sports journalist that's portrayed by Robert Wuhl in the movie. While he's not going to win any civil rights awards, he was not the racist that he's portrayed to be today, having said that he thought the only player that could hold a candle to himself was Jackie Robinson and he generally favored integration in baseball.

As to Rosen, it's kind of similar. From everything you hear about last season, he handled everything like a pro. Did not complain when he didn't start immediately, did not complain after that when he was thrown to the wolves and didn't complain when all the Kyler Murray talk started. I haven't seen even anonymous sources saying teammates didn't like him. The whole idea that he's an asshole is a media invention, or at least that's what it seems like. Maybe, the only thing you have to worry about is that his father, who is a world renowned physician who was close to being named surgeon general, might convince him to retire early due to an injury that another QB might come back from, but that's really just speculation.

Yeah it's true we've hit on some 3rd rounders but we've also missed on Caroo, probably Tankersley, Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Will Davis to name a few. There's no guarantee that that any pick will be a long term answer and no position is as pivotal as QB.

For a third?

I don't think Bart Scott belongs in the same sentence with Ray Lewis unless he did something I'm not aware of. Ray Lewis killed two people.

Rosen has said a couple of dopey things. He absolutely doesn't belong in this conversation.

Exactly, it's not like w're talking the Penguins third round pick.

:D

don't forget Luke Falk, currently our backup . If we go for Rosen, then Falk must have no potential. But we kept Falk last year, meaning he must have potential. I'd rather work with Falk than Rosen, especially considering his locker room cancer antics. But....I wont complain for a 4th.

Josh Rosen is definitely a kid with more potential to be a quality starting quarterback than Luke Falk. A move for Rosen isn't a comment on Falk in any way, shape, or form. He is a kid who is primary backup material, not starter material.

And there's nothing wrong with that.
