Pft - Miami Close To A Deal For Josh Rosen (merged)

Trading for Rosen is very low risk- he is on his rookie deal & won’t have a cap # if the organization chose to cut/trade him if things don’t work out. We wouldn’t be locked into Rosen for a decade; we wouldn’t even be locked into Rosen for training camp.

I still see this as, at worst, getting a serviceable backup QB for a 3rd. That's not a bad price. And he can be RF's understudy for 2019.

Belichick is a douchebag, Big Ben is a big douchebag, Rivers is a douchebag. Ty Cobb was a douchebag,

Anyone passing on them?

Rosen was a douche in high school, in college, and now a year into the nfl he’s still a douche.

Big Ben, Rivers, and Belichick actually won some games and earned some respect before people started talking about their personalities.

Yeah it's true we've hit on some 3rd rounders but we've also missed on Caroo, probably Tankersley, Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Will Davis to name a few. There's no guarantee that that any pick will be a long term answer and no position is as pivotal as QB.

Ya and if Rosen ends up being a bust you basically wasted a pick on him for nothing. I would rather them use their 1st round pick on a QB in 2020 where there should be better prospects than Rosen.

The Cardinals were as dysfunctional as a team can get last year. Firing OC McCoy mid season and then their HC. Can’t really judge Rosen last year. I’m not saying I want him or he’ll be good but I’m not looking at his year last year and thinking he sucks. I wouldn’t be mad if Miami got him for a 4th though.

Very true … but if we trade for Rosen it means two things are paramount:

1. The Dolphins believe Rosen is the answer, and will not be shopping for a QB in 2020 … so the rebuild starts today, and we're likely locked into Rosen and mediocrity for the next decade.
2. The braintrust of the Dolphins is not being sincere about their prioritizing of people who love football, grind and sacrifice for the team. Rosen is the opposite of all of that, and the young players will all realize it.

This would represent a huge change of philosophy and direction for Grier and Flores … and from that decision there wouldn't really be a way to turn back. It's tough to get guys to follow your mantra of sacrifice if you sell them out for a guy who represents the exact opposite in your very first draft. If we bring in Rosen, we're investing in talent over attitude … and the talent had better produce quickly, or it all falls apart.

I disagree, if we trade a 3rd round pick or whatever for Rosen, we would not be marrying ourself to him. It would be just more depth at a position we are very weak in and it just happens to be the most important position in most sports. We need competition at the QB position.

If Rosen sucks in 2019, then we move on, simple. Panthers did this with Jimmy Clausen, drafted him 2nd round, he sucked they drafted Newton next year.

In fact, if we trade for Rosen then I still expect us to draft a top QB prospect in 2020 draft. Unless Rosen plays like Patrick Mahomes.

It's not mutually exclusive.. you'd rather have Billy Turner than Rosen?

I don't even get the reservations about moving a third round pick for Rosen. Obviously, I'd prefer to see the team give up day three picks, but look at the quarterback market. Daniel Jones just went top ten. Rosen is better value as a prospect and you're getting him for a third rather than a top ten pick. No brainer.

No but I might rather have whoever they would draft in the 3rd round this year instead of trading if for Rosen.

You're entitled to your opinion; mine obviously is that I'd rather have Rosen than any of this year's crop of QBs not named Murray.

And I would rather have one of the top QB's in next year's draft instead of Rosen. I don't see Rosen as a long term answer at QB. In fact he reminds me a little of Tannehill.

Most of talking head "gurus" I see on the various sports channels/shows would disagree with some opining he'd still be worth a 1st. But be that as it may, small risk/potential high gain investment certainly worth the cost of a Dallas Thomas to find out.

Taking Rosen with a third round pick essentially does nothing to reduce Miami's 2020 draft capital and allows the team to take a chance on a first round quarterback talent with minimal investment.

Rosen's stock is very low right now and the market is thin. Unless the Cardinals are holding out for a second round pick, I think they should have already pulled the trigger.

Again, even if Rosen turns out to be a total bomb here in Miami, the investment is minimal. The risk/reward doesn't get much more appealing than this.

Guys like Garrett Grayson get drafted in the 3rd round all the time to be a backup QB. Saints drafted him a few years ago in the 3rd with Brees still there. Spending a 3rd to get Rosen is a no brainer when we have NOTHING at QB right now, Rosen still has upside.

CK just said on twitter earlier that he'd be surprised if Rosen was traded for a Day 2 pick now. No leverage, it will probably be a Day 3 pick. If its for a Day 3 pick, I do it in a split second! And I don't even like Rosen lol

I can't see them bringing Rosen here.

They are in the process of BUILDING a TEAM.

Rosen would be a bad acquisition.

Flores is a tough guy, Caldwell is a very tough coach also.

Rosen is NOT a tough guy.

On a scale of Tom Brady to Ryan Tannehill...

Rosen is MUCH more like RT.

He processes info too slowly, & he is far too ALOOF & removed from the rest of the team to be an effective leader IMHO.
