Detailed Film Study On Rosen’s Rookie Year

One thing that intrigued me so much is that people have written Allen (LMAO) and Darnold in as franchise QBs already, yet Rosen basically had the same stats as them last season with wet paper towels for an Oline and wideouts with hands of stone.

I will raise my hand. I watched very little of him in Arizona . . . .but his final year at UCLA I watched every one of his games.

Kids got real talent . . . And it is almost baffling to hear that he struggled so mightily in Arizona (often blaming him instead of what was around him) with many using the Tannehill narrative combined with the sack numbers . . . .and very little actual “watching of the game” . . . To back up their narrative.

Kid is every bit of Phillip Rivers IMO . . . .except for one key department . . . .There is valid concern about him as a leader of men and of him having internal attitude issues . . . .and that cannot be overlooked when you are talking a guy you expect to lead your franchise and your group of 53.

So despite the talent I think he has . . . .that potential lack of leadership trait is enough to sour me on him if it indeed is a factual one.

Truth be told, before Murray declared for football I heard nothing but positive energy with how Josh handled 2018.

We’ll see.
I’d like your opinion. One thing that video pointed out pretty hard was he took way too long to make decision on throwing the ball. How often do QBs improve on that? It seems like more of a natural trait than something that’s coached in terms of how much you can improve.

I worry about his head attitude wise. I have seen rumblings about him being difficult to deal with, but IDK. For the right price I say go for it. I think this coaching staff will not put up too long with the one's that don't buy in but this could be a "diamond in the rough".

Amusingly, I think Rosen's 2018 season is a good comparison with Tannehill's 2012 season. Good prospect surrounded by a poor supporting cast, with a coaching staff that was in over its head. If anything, I think that the situation would be the opposite; people who slagged on Tannehill would be the first to trash Rosen.

We'll see. I would really like to see the team package some day three picks and bring him in here. Absolutely worth that shot. Compare him to Daniel Jones: Jones was drafted in the top ten yesterday and isn't even close to the throwing talent that Rosen is. And Rosen has shown that he can play the position well outside of just throwing it.

Like I said in chat, bring him in for a 3rd round pick for 2 years. He either proves AZ was a fluke or he bombs and has us in position to pick Trevor Lawrence.

Just the fact that the new coach over there, who seems like a TREMENDOUS d*ck BTW....is so eager to move on pretty much says it all.

I'm glad someone else noticed this. Every time I hear Kliff Kingsbury talk on television he comes off as a complete pompous jerk to me. This is not a normal reaction from me whatsoever as I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. Only other person that I know of that gave me this first impression was Ben Affleck, who I saw speak on a big panel of actors after an Argo screening in New York. There is a way of talking that combines "holier than thou" and "bratty" that is just so off-putting.

That aside, the prospect of kicking the tires on Rosen really, really intrigues me. You can tell the Dolphins are conflicted because this doesn't necessarily follow the blueprint they had laid out (how could it? This sort of thing doesn't usually happen). I just hope he doesn't go to New England. Anywhere but there.

Holy Christ.

That was an excellent breakdown.

And yes, this quote gave me the heebie-jeebies:

"Small improvements would make a massive difference for this guy. I think he's actually really close to being a great quarterback. He just needs a little bit of help. He needs better coaching. He needs an offensive line. In 2018 the Cardinals lacked play-calling. They lacked creativity in their play calling. Their coaching staff on offense was awful. They didn't take advantage of matchups. They just didn't put Josh Rosen in a position to succeed. They didn't help him at all."

I said near identical things about Ryan Tannehill for years. I can't understand why people who liked Tannehill would bag on Rosen. They're the same freaking scenario.

I've seen this movie before.... half the fan base hates the QB before he ever suits up and half the fanbase spends the better part of a decade defending his piss poor play.

We simply can't trade for Rosen, it could set us back years and ruin this rebuild before weve even poured the concrete.

They can absolutely trade for Rosen. I know this might give you a version of PTSD, but bear with me:

The difference between this and the Tannehill situation is that Miami will owe him very little money, and won't have to spend a high draft pick for him.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that they can TRADE for him...but they don't have to COMMIT to him.

But dude, be honest with yourself, once we get a QB we are the most patient team in the NFL waiting for them to finally "break out"

Yes Rosen could be traded for with little cost but will we be able to resist giving him 5 years to "break out" before finally realizing he cant hack it.

Its this simple, you trade a relatively minor draft pick for someone who was a top 10 pick a year ago. He either lights it up and you have a franchise QB or he bombs and you draft a QB in 20 or wait for Laurence. We know what we are getting with Fitz, why not take a chance? No other QB in this draft is better than Rosen IMO

I do not believe this new staff will have the same commitment to Josh Rosen that the previous ones had to Tannehill, if he is acquired. The only remainder is Grier - and even he has said the Tannehill situation should have been handled differently.

I mean lets keep in mind . . .when Tannhill got on the field at Texas A&M . . . .Mike Sherman was there for 4 years . . .and in his first two years in Miami . . . .Mike Sheman was there. Despite the shortcomings at the skills in his rookie season and the often poor OLine in his second year . . . .he still knew that system like the back of his hand. He was in and around it for 6 years.

Rosen has had 5 OCs in his last 4 years of playing football . . . .including two in his rookie NFL season.

So yea there was and has been a lot thrown at this guy, and combined with the historically poor offensive line and overall poor coaching . . . .the results were subpar.

But that rookie season should not be an indication of his future potential and certainly the contract/draft value of getting him with a third is very attractive for a talent like him.

Darnold is trash too.

Allen, the jury is still out. But when he finally got the starting job, he made some throws that only top tier QBs like Rodgers make. A very live arm and his ability to escape the pocket will show value.

My issue with Allen is his accuracy is HORRENDOUS. Sure, he makes amazing throws, but he misses an obscene amount of throw me hgh school kids make regularly. He’s terrible

Yea, he does let the ball get away from him. But there are certain throws only a few in the NFL can make, and imo he is one of them.

I just think we will all know better by the end of 2019 exactly what the Bill's got moving forward. I think he ends up having a decent year.
