Pft - Miami Close To A Deal For Josh Rosen (merged)

I think the bigger thing here isn’t the compensation as much as it’s is Miami taking itself out of the 2020 qb class with this move.

Cause I will be damned if I’m gonna trade day 2 assets to watch this kid sit behind Fitzpatrick for 16 games and not see what I bought.

He CAN'T sit behind Fitz if this trade goes down, regardless of the compensation. That would be complete idiocy and a waste. Evaluating him must be THE priority of the 2019 season.

If he sucks ass, great. That means we are sitting pretty for Tua/Fromm.

If he's great. Awesome! We are set.

If he's mediocre? Trade whatever you can to get up for one of the top QBs and have them compete with Rosen in 2020.

I wouldn't give up even a 7th round pick for Rosen because that's how much I think of him, but if they managed to give up their #2 for a guy who has one year less on his contract and was completely terrible last year regardless of how many excuses people want to make for him, it speaks to the level of incompetence of the front office that they would even consider this.

Getting Rosen for a third would be a steal. Giving up the 48th pick will hurt. I can only hope there is something else afoot...maybe moving back into the second round with some future draft capital?

I don’t see too much downside in acquiring Rosen. I love the fact that he played last year and has that season of starting experience under his belt.

But coming away from the draft with Wilkins and a QB who was drafted in the top 10 last year...it wouldn’t be bad work for the first two days of the draft.

And if they are trading for this kid with day 2 assets as nothing more than a long term backup thought I want them all fired already.

I mean wtf. At worst this should be a lock one year audition for the kid.

But again if I’m making this move and I know it’s my plan there’s no way I would have drafted a dt at 13 unless I’m trading into tonight’s rounds for more o line help/talent

Yup

So basically it’s a one year audition for you with a possible top 50 pick asset being the price.

Seems pricy to me but I guess I get it. I’d get it more if they invested in tbe o line

Fitz though grabs damn pine.

A 2nd this year is equal to a third last year.

Would any of you have been upset last year if we drafted Rosen in the third round?

I want our 2nd rounder though. I would give them our 3rd and a conditional next year based on starting wins.

FLIP side: a second this year is a first next. I wouldn’t want discarded QB for a 1st next year....

Get the deal done for a third rounder this year and 4th next year. We have to start getting qbs every draft. Eventually you will hit on one. The guy was a top ten talent last year. I couldn't care less about his tape from last year. A lot of rookie qbs struggle first year. I would prefer 3rd this year ,and not a second. I would even do a 3rd this year and next year. We got comp picks coming. You guys should love this move. That idiot Gase didn't want Rosen. Rosen is probably going to be awesome since Gase sucks so bad.

How can they possibly be considering him as a starter this year with current OL assets? He will sit behind Fitz and be trotted out year two while better draft prospects are passed on again. Business as usual in Miami.

What makes this seem a bit odd, is if they really had planned on trading for Rosen, why did they draft a Dlinemen in the first. Seems like they would have gone oline in the first to help him out. Gonna use a second on Rosen so you wouldnt get any oline help until the third at the earliest. By that point we all know olinemen are a crap shoot so nothing is a given that guy even starts.

I wouldn't do it for a 2nd either TBH, but if they do, it is what it is. I'd just be super pissed if they sat him behind Fitz. That would be idiocy.

Oh ****...

Avoid at all costs! It's cursed!

We actually traded a 2nd of old *** Green? I didn't remember that. I thought he was an FA.

I don't meant to stand in the way of sensationalism... But we did no such thing as trade a 2nd for a 37 year old Trent Green. It was a 5th.
