Some Thoughts On Rosen

Except that Dan in his first year, throw 20 TDs 6 ints 96 QB rating and was 7-2. While Rosen, threw 11 TDs and 14 Ints with a 66 QB rating. Lead his team to the first overall pick and got fired. Little bit of a difference.

The past 7 years looks like it might get a reprieve from being sent to the dust bin of failed experiments, and just updated for volume 2.

Different names, same issues, same excuses.

Personally I think the Cardinals made a huge mistake. They drafted an unknown who could decide to say "screw football. I play baseball." He'll take his millions he made early in football for long term millions in baseball. They did not give Rosen any support a rookie should have. The FO immediately **** on him and the coach and left them hanging dry and high.

There is no downside of us getting him with a 3rd round pick or even a 2nd round pick. The kid will sit behind Fitzpatrick for a few games. No pressure of having to turn a franchise around immediately. Insert him after a few games and see if he can handle the pressure of being a starting QB. With the Dolphins he has more weapons than he had in Arizona and he has player who can bail him out on safe routes.

With minimal to no changes in an OL with gaping problems, you can swap A for B for C. The same outcome is going to unfold.

We are literally about to do the exact same thing the Cardinals did last year in leveraging for a mediocre QB with the thought that "well if he doesn't work we can draft another top QB next year".

The problem is, two years of mediocre to **** play and Rosens chip value will be gone and we will be left holding the bag.

That’s just a bit unfair- Marino joined the defending AFC champs; Rosen joined an awful Cardinals team. And Marino is an all-time great.

Some QB’s have “IT” and some don’t. Rosen doesn’t. His reputation for being stand offish and reports of poor leadership skills reminds me so much of Jay Cutler. His film Is also similar to Smoking Jay- occasional great throws, mixed in with inconsistency and bad decisions.

I would rather take a flyer on a mid to late round pick this year, and/or wait until 2020 than to appoint Cutler Jr as the face of our franchise

We're going to save this thread so all of you can eat crow in a couple years. He would be the #2 rated QB in this class behind Murray (but #1 in my eyes). The kid has had 7 offensive coordinators in the last 5 years: 2015 - Mazzone, 2016 - Polamalu, 2017 - Fisch, 2018 - McCoy & Leftwich, 2019 - Kingsbury & his next OC (O'Shea?). That's unheard of. He needs some stability. The other thing was he wasn't given a fair shake in Zona with their oline. They had 12 different offensive line starters & the last month of the year were starting all 2nd-3rd string. That's my biggest fear here. We have Tunsil & nothing else. Hopefully we can keep our 2nd to get Jawaan Taylor/Cody Ford/Dalton Risner/Eric McCoy/Elgton Jenkins. Regardless, he should sit the first couple months to save the beating our starting QB is going to take. Wherever he goes he now has two chips on his shoulder & that makes him dangerous.

Some thoughts on Rosen that I think are really in our favor. First, I did not want to draft him last year when it looked like he would fall to us. I loved his arm, but the knock on him was how committed he was and the guy was just a bit too ****y for my taste. Not a Dan Marino, I am good ****y.....I am better than you ****y.

With that being said, I think last year was a real wake up for the kid. He saw how tough the NFL was, the commitment it takes to win, and what I really liked was that AZ players openly spoke up for Josh, even on defense during the off season....many saying Josh is our guy, and that he commanded respect and handled the huddle well as a rookie.

I think we are getting a more mature Rosen, that has been humbled a bit. AZ has also already paid a large bulk of Rosen's salary, he is cheap relatively speaking. I also think he will have a very large chip on his shoulder to prove AZ and everyone else wrong. The kid has the talent, and I am much happier if this deal goes down taking him now, then I was last year!

I agree! AZ just lit a fire under his ass! No way he doesn’t want to prove everyone wrong. I think this is a good move for us.

If we do this deal (even for a 3rd let alone a 2nd!) it's back to the same old crap

spinning our wheels tying to "win now" while losing 50-60% of our games.

IMO this effort has ROSS written all over it and I strongly suspect he's the

one guiding this scam to bring the [edited] hope to Miami!

I'm out if this deal goes through. My stomach can't take it.

And where ??? did all these Rosen supporters suddenly come from?

I think the Ruskies are involved!

I think having him sit and learn behind Fitz is good for sure. Fitz has been all over the league and knows all of the playbooks lol. I’m definitely liking the Rosen move.

All picks are risk. Look at all of the first round QB bust. If this works out then we just landed a franchise QB for cheap. Plus, we have a ton of picks next year with a lot of cap.
