Pft - Miami Close To A Deal For Josh Rosen (merged)

I would be livid too. He has every right.

On the other side though, you're a pro now. You're not a 5 star HS golden boy. You're not a Heisman contender in college. You're a 2nd year pro after a bad season who knows he's under the microscope. When you're in the spotlight you always have to be aware of the optics. If he wants to be traded, make yourself appealing.

This is why pro athletes shouldn’t be on Twitter etc. because impulse feelings and decisions can’t be taken back.

Hell I delete impulse posts at times just cause it’s tbe first thing that comes to my mind. And I’m plus side of 40 now. Lol

If we're the only team showing interest, AZ is not laughing at an offer that solves two problems: having two first round QBs, and having your new shiny quarterback developing confidence problems because the team that drafted him shows it overvalues players.

Dude, if I were Miami, I'd tell AZ to take my shart offer or leave it. They are the team that loses by doing nothing, not Miami.

Then they’d keep him. Financially, it makes more sense to keep him. Or dropping the asking price to a bag of Cheetos invites teams like SD, NE, or DEN to jump into the bidding.

I think the Dolphins-will ultimately give a third....I think the second is not happening... there are plenty of legit starters there at 48... and maybe Drew Lock... who I feel strongly we will regret passing on! Deja Vu to me!

No way! You like Lock?

Well, I'd rather have him with an R2 than Rosen
who already looks pre 80s south beach arthritic!

Haha - me too my man.

So we've got the Cardinals over a barrel. We are essentially negotiating against ourselves. Rosen would be a distraction in Arizona at this point. Why are we giving up a second for him?

Speaking of which, I thought our new direction was character guys. No distractions. This guy is ALL distractions. Been that way since he was drafted. He's got all kinds of red flags. We've got a million needs and an inconsistent quarterback is one we already have without giving up a potential young starter at another position.

If this rumor is true, it smells of the Dolphins forgetting the mistakes of the last couple of decades and immediately deviating from their plan as soon as they announced their plan. And that's a major buzzkill for anyone hoping the direction of our franchise really changed ... it's just as it ever was under Ross, just now with even worse players.

Rosen would actually make the season interesting

Yep. And there’d actually be qb upside in tbe building. I don’t see the downside of this unless he’s bad but not bad enough for us to get a top pick qb in 2020.

But I get the feeling we make this trade it’s not a one year audition.

A 3rd or 4th would be a steal. Rosen's numbers as crappy as they are are comparable to Allen and Darnold.

PS: I am not sold on him as a starting QB.

I get it, I just don't know why you think that. If Haskins and rosen were sitting there for us for free, and we could only take one of them, what makes you think we wouldn't take Haskins over rosen?

Am I missing something?

What don't you get? They are trying to trade for a QB that was drafted last year when they had a chance to draft a QB from this year's class at #13. That means they think a lot more highly of Rosen than Haskins for some reason. It's real simple.

Bravo!

Really excellent post!

Thank you.

I agree completely. I thought they were going to be patient and maybe wait until 2020 to draft their QB. What happened to that line of thinking?

it seems the general consensus on this board is that we were all ok taking him 11 last year (if he was available) but he's not ok at 48 this year. This boggles the mind.

Fitzpatrick already does that. Hes a household name after last year and has personality. I really dont want Rosen for anything but a 4th. I guess I could live with a 3rd but still meh. We were set up perfectly to go all in one of the next two years for generational QBs. I want to keep that as the goal. Rosen confuses it big time. Im terrified of him being just good enough ala Tannehill to trick us again. Now if Im wrong and he turns out to be elite than great I just dont see it.
