Love the risk reward of this. I’m not sure if Rosen will turn out great, but we limited the risk with high upside potential. Have lots of draft picks next year too. I like what Grier has done so far.

If Rosen turns out to be a franchise QB it was the steal of the last two decades. If he is not we invested very little and still got 12 picks in next years draft to got for another QB.

This year's offseason Grier and Co laid the foundation for the next 5-10 years.

To those who think we are lacking OL players. If you go back through the recent history of the Patriots you will realize that the OL was always their strength and was mostly compromised of lower round draft picks, UDFAs and the garbage pile of the rest of the NFL. It was all about coaching them up in the system. I doubt you will us make any splash in FA or early in the draft when it comes to the OL.

Umm, unless he is a top 3 QB, he ain’t the steal of the last 6 years. That would be Russell Wilson.
 
Welcome JR, I am stoked. He may not turn out but at least we are trying. Will never get a franchise QB unless we try.

Agreed. After the first 3 rounds, a stud DT, average OG, and backup QB is a solid haul.

Welcome Rosen!

So far this draft looks smart to me - like a GM building a foundation.

- Got a 1st round QB for a 2nd which we got back in a trade, minimal risk as his contract is for peanuts. Still locked and loaded with tons of picks to make a QB splash in 2020 if we want.

- Got a a foundational piece of the defense in Rd1

- Got a young center to grow along with whoever ends up being QB when we start winning. They can develop some ESP together on making the line calls and such.
 
This was a typical Pats move here. Get a player for almost no compensation using two teams to do so.

So in three rounds we addressed three position of need. Gave up a 2nd and 5th but got Rosen and a 2nd back.

So we got Rosen for a 5th and a deferred 2nd. That's better than a 4th this year.
