Not a good draft

I was wondering if there was anyone on this forum who did not like this draft at all.

For the our first pick at first I did not like the pick we made but now the big boy is growing on me.

As for the second round I'm not all that happy that we spent a second on Rosen even though we picked up another second for next year, you won't see me complain though as last year I was at the edge of my seat hoping that we drafted Rosen until Arizona crushed my dreams.

As for the rest of the draft I felt like it was horse ****, I'm not complaining, im all in for seeing how it all pans out, however I do have an early on opinion that I hope I'm wrong about.

There was all American talent all across the board in the later rounds and we passed them for players most of us are not familiar with or that was Barley productive in college.

I feel like they are trying to mold everything into the patriots way, ever since they came on board they are copying everything the patriots do and I feel like we have spend decades hating them just to follow their lead because of success?

These things come with good and bad traits, like in the lower rounds wastinf picks drafting running backs when we have huge needs in other areas. The patriots love having running backs and are always shifting through them, how about finding our guy at running back and one other guy to supplement them. Not go through 5-6 running backs a season with a few getting cut and brought back like new England does.

Can we just bring a bit of the patriots way and form our own way as well? Instead of trying to copy everything the patriots do? Seems like we are being followers in some shape or form.

Ummmm YES!

Very few. It's draft day. Everyone loves every pick and pick up and flames anyone who doesn't. With that being said I will reserve judgement until the real games start.

That’s a huge generalization. From my knowledge it looked like they did the best they could to improve the roster considering the circumstances. It seemed smart and pragmatic, it could very well all go to ****, or be a great draft....

The 1st and 3rd rd picks were good and Van Ginkel was OK. The last two picks were not my cup of tea, but it is the 7th rd so you can't get too upset. But the thing about the draft that really irked me was the trade. I don't agree with it.

Forgot, Prince is a classic underachiever, but if they can coach him up he could turn out to be a very good player. He was drafted in the 6th, so that pick probably about what he could be rather than what he is.

So you're not happy because the FO selected guys you've never heard of and you believe we are following the model of the most successful NFL team over the last 18 years?

I hope they turn us into the Pats! 8 superbowls with 6 rings...sign me the **** up! O’Shea was up Brady’s ass for a decade. I hope that he sees something in Rosen that reminds him of Brady.

Yeah I felt this was a poor draft. Don't see any impact players. Felt there were better players available with every pick. But we'll see. New regime. Maybe they fit into what we're going to be doing. Thought a 2nd for Rosen was way too much considering we weren't competing with anybody for him. Probably could have gotten him for a fifth. Grier just folded trips to a bluff

When you compare our draft to the Jets, Bills and Patriots I think we easily come in 4th and that's not a good sign. At this point just hope they have a lot of busts and we have a lot of positive surprises

I think most people are a bit clueless on how badly we needed OL and DL, one of which we got some help on, the other we are still screwed. I don't mind the RB pickups, because we only had 2 on roster (I dont count that guy they picked up in the offseason, he won't make the roster after these 2). Gaskins is under-rated, he's 1 of like 8 in FBS history to rush for over 1000 yds in 4 straight seasons, he is close to the all time rushing records for college (12th all time). Not saying that is a clear indicator of success in the NFL, just saying he is worth a late 7th rd pick over the 6th string RB from Alabama who doubles as the waterboy for Nick Saban.

Agree that the draft was under-whelming overall, but the Rosen deal could prove to be insane if he is even as good as Tannehill, I'm guessing most haters will give him at least that he is on parity with RT, who was a 7 year starter for us. If he is worse than Tannehill, then we wasted a 2nd-ish, if he's equal or better, we got a hell of a deal for him.

I'm thinking that the defensive scheme is going to be a bit of a 3-4 hybrid that caters to our lack of DEnds. If we basically have 3 DTs (Wilkins, Godchaux, Taylor) and 2 of the 4 LBs are pass-rushing (probably Harris and someone like van Ginkle or Woodard), that would likely prove to be a semi-decent DL scheme. I really hope they don't try a traditional 3-4 with 2 DE, and load up on UDFA help. We will have a worse DL than last year for sure if that occurs.
