This Is A Great Day In Dolphin History!!!

Anyone remember Rosen's comeback win last year versus the 49ers? I hope that we get that version of Josh Rosen as he continues to grow as a QB.

That throw at the 1:00 minute mark, I don’t recall any pocket climbing movement like that from Tannehill EVER

True. But we might consider that the cause and effect ran the other way as well. Those people invested in Rosen, knowing there were many NFL personnel people who wouldn't touch him because of the belief that his teammates did not support Rosen, questioned his commitment to football, bad personality, and selfish nature. NFL people compared him to Jeff George and Jay Cutler.

Then the Cardinals drafted Rosen, played Rosen, and he had a tremendously bad rookie season. That's not the end of the world, lots of good QB's have had bad rookie seasons, including Peyton Manning. But for whatever reason (ticket sales? lack of production? locker room unrest?) the Cardinals fired their coach and chose the least-successful new coach hired this offseason who they knew came in with a system and requirement to get a new QB in the mold of Kyler Murray. To me, it seems that the decision was made to move on from Rosen with that coaching hire, before, not after Kingsbury.

It is possible that it wasn't the desire to get Kingsbury that determined their decision to move on from Rosen, but rather their decision to move on from Rosen that determined hiring Kingsbury. Which it was, we may never know. But it is worth considering. GM's usually don't survive long if they have to admit they were wrong about their coaching selection and their QB selection. So I doubt the decision was made lightly.

My understanding is that Steve Wilks and his staff were in way over their heads. The people who cover Arizona all said Steve Wilks was a nice guy, but he didn't really ever have the support of the front office, and it was clear early he was not ready to be a head coach.

Now I do think Rosen would be goon in Kingsburry's offense (Kliff's issue at Texas Tech was that he could never get even a competent defense, nor did he really care to. His defensive staff were all of his college friends). But the Murray move was all for the spotlight too. I think Murray will be good, but the Cards did not draft him for what he did on the field.

I have also heard that selling tickets was one of the goals of bringing in Murray and Kingsbury to make it work. Let's hope that was the primary reason.

Can't say I'm sold. But I'd rather see if he can be what many thought he could be. The risk is not as bad as you think. If he's terrible, you got no less than three studs in next year's draft. If he balls out..you got options. I just think it's a great day for the team. I've been wrong before though...
Your not wrong on these points.

A great day in Dolphin history would be winning the Super Bowl or at least a playoff game. Getting Deiter and Rosen makes this an interesting day at best right now

I am more optimistic than you about this. I think winning a Superbowl would simply be another great day. The prospects are looking up for many great days.

He was the best pure passer in the 2018 draft

Since I asked that, I have watched some things that have impressed me. I'm really impressed with his debut game. Now I can't wait for mini-camp and OTAs! I bet Rosen gets tons of preseason minutes.

He must get majority of the reps. The Miami Dolphins need to get the QB issue behind them once and for all. And having him split time with Fitzpatrick is not the answer.

I honestly opened this thread expecting a celebration of past Dolphins accomplishments. Instead I find it is a thread about seeing into the future.
